I deleted the plugin but didn’t fix the problem.
But doing as you suggested, disabling merging and compression of CSS files, updates to the CSS style file are immediate!

You did exactly what I usually do and that didn’t work in this case.
I just cleared all the contents of the style.css file and the frontend shows as if it’s still there despite clearing the cache multiple times….why?
Update: It now seems to work.
I cleared the cache on my browser and server with WP Super Cache.
Could it be that the server cache has a lag time once it is cleaned with the WP Super Cache plugin?
