So you are saying to start over, delete the child theme I have built that I had to customize the footer, put a LOT of custom CSS is because it did NOT copy settings from the parent?
Then if it does the same thing again, I have to re-do all my custom css, widgets in the footer, etc.?
I don’t think so, I’m 90% sure it will fail again. I have it 95% (or more) to where all the styling is like the parent.
A WordPress guru I know thinks it’s because of WPEngine

Yes, we did that. It does not work, we are guessing because of restrictions imposed by the host, WPEngine.
I’ll try to get you the images
There is another issue. I cannot get the child theme general styling to be like the parent theme. I could show you EXACTLY the issue, but you do not allow images to be attached. I’m sure there is a way to do it, but I can;t figure it out. I want the Alink & Hovered link colors to be greyscale.
Look at watermanusa.com for the desired colors (parent theme).
Look at watermanusa.staging.wpengine.com for the child theme (red tone on links).
Thanks
We got it fixed, someone else helped me.
The issue is that when the child theme is created it does NOT carry forward all the styles & settings of the parent theme; it does not carry forward the footer AT ALL. I had to manually recreate the footer by seeing how it was set up in the parent & moving widgets; messy but I got it done.I thought the whole idea of the child theme was to specifically inherit all the settings of the parent unless EXPLICITLY overriden in the child.
Doesn’t work in Enfold. Please note wp-logon info for http://watermanusa.staging.wpengine.com/ (hosted on WPengine) in Private Content area
