    Thank you Rikard,
I am now able to update the site fully through Safari. I am not able to save changes consistently in Chrome though and still get the ERR EMPTY RESPONSE. If you think the Chrome issue is related to our site, I will go ahead and post the temporary login info/URL. Otherwise, if there is some info about working in Chrome that is relevant, I would be grateful for a link to the info.

In any case, I will have to hand off administration of our PTA site in 9 months and the new administrator may not want to work in Safari. I think I should have the site editable in Chrome by that time.

    Many thanks!
    Holly

Yes. I disabled all the plugins. I am running PHP 7.0 FastCGI on my host server. I added a line in wp-config.php: define( ‘WP_MEMORY_LIMIT’, ‘256M’ ); and my plugins are disabled. But I still get the error response noted above when I try to remove a subpage in my main menu. And now I just tried to make a simple text edit on the home page and the edit didn’t take either because I got the same ERR EMPTY RESPONSE that I noted above.
Also—I am working in Google Chrome on a MBP.

Thank you for any help you can provide.

    Hi Rikard,
I have solved my problem. It was my mistake because I was pasting the embed code into the video url box, which did not work. When I pasted the plain vimeo url in “https://vimeo.com/#######”, not embed code, the video shows up just fine. I do want to find out how to get rid of the black borders around the video though. If you have any advice for the borders, that would be great.
    Thank you,
    Holly

    Hi Basilis,

I thought it might be a problem that Rap another participant figured out which is his reply #423622.
    He says:

WordPress caches the video player on the first hit, so if the access settings for the video was wrong, then it won’t display the video player even though you fix the video access settings afterwards.

[I know that the first time I tried to embed a vimeo video, the settings were incorrectly set to password protected, so I am thinking that this is what needs to be fixed in the tables.]
So I followed his instructions to go into the SQL database, going in through phpMyAdmin. I got as far as the SQL query and it couldn’t find the cached embedded video players. I received this answer:

    SELECT * FROM wp_postmeta WHERE meta_key like ‘%_oembed%’ LIMIT 0, 25
    MySQL said:
#1064 – You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near ‘%_oembed%’ LIMIT 0, 25’ at line 1

Do you know what a correct SQL syntax would be to find the embedded player so I could fix?
    Thank you. Holly
