Help please… I did not create my website using a child theme. I know you gave me instructions for what to do last time there was an update but I can’t find them.
I didn’t make any major changes to the theme, mostly styles within the control panel.

Okay so while updating through WordPress I received
Internal Server Error
The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.

Additionally, a 500 Internal Server Error error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.then I received this message:
Briefly unavailable for scheduled maintenance. Check back in a minute.Can you tell me what is going on and how long to expect this to take?
Also, I am running php 7.1. Is this the version you recommend?
No, nothing directly to the .php files, only through the customizer. I just wanted to be certain! I also made a back-up of the website so I should be good to go.
