September 6, 2023 at 7:21 pm in reply to: Is it possible to place a button at the bottom of all blog posts? #1418294
Thanks, we are getting closer. This text seems to straddle the social share buttons at the bottom of the post. “Back to” is above the share buttons and aligned to the right margin; “Blog” is after the share buttons and aligned to the left.
If it’s not terribly difficult, I’d prefer for it to be centered and above those social share buttons. I can turn it into a green button that matches the rest of my site using the element code if you can tell me where to insert it in your code.
Thanks!
JonSeptember 6, 2023 at 2:02 am in reply to: odd canonical issue. . . not sure how to fix, or if it’s even an Enfold issue #1418217figured it out. If anybody else has the issue, you have to insert a canonical tag into the header of the homepage (making sure you delete the incorrect canonical tag).

Looks like it was around the start of Covid stuff, so my practice went haywire with going all virtual somewhere in 2020. I am going to review this thread now and go see if these things are still showing up or not. I’ll check back soon. If y’all have any new info in the past few years on it, please feel free to link to those threads and I’ll check them out as well.
Thanks
JonSeptember 1, 2023 at 1:30 am in reply to: In Posts, toolbars go away when scrolling down into editor in visual view #1417736Perfect. Thanks! Fortunately, those promo boxes aren’t too long usually.
What about the Pages ALB situation where that happens? I.e. the Layout/Element/Media toolbar at the top goes off the page. Should I start a different thread for that?
JSeptember 1, 2023 at 12:25 am in reply to: In Posts, toolbars go away when scrolling down into editor in visual view #1417731Found where it is happening. It could be in other elements that have editors in them, but I’m using Promo Box currently. Attaching a link to how the pop-up editor behaves when the content is longer than the box . . . the toolbar goes off the screen. Link in private content

I can a video or screenshot of that. If I can’t figure out how to post those in the private box, I’ll put a link to my Google Drive. It’s the same frustration, but since pages aren’t as long, and since I can see the element blocks (vs code) it is easier to manage . . . but they may be related. I will try the plugin deactivation test in a bit when I get some needed updates done.
August 31, 2023 at 8:23 pm in reply to: In Posts, toolbars go away when scrolling down into editor in visual view #1417723Yes, that’s the toolbar(s) I’m referring to. I confirmed last night that it is intermittent. . . sadly, more often than not it scrolls off the screen.
I am using the Classic Editor (no plugin needed) option.
I haven’t disabled plugins yet just in case there was a cleaner way of trying to diagnose (like a known gremlin if I don’t have a certain setting dialed in correctly).
I’ll attach a screencast video if I am able to attach short video clips here.
Perfect! Thanks!

Yeah, you’re good to close.
Thanks!
JOnLooks like in ALB for posts the WordPress Preview of changes does not work either.
Nevermind. . . it worked, just took 45 seconds

Is there any way to enable those features so that I don’t have to use the magic wand to get the element box, only to have to completely delete the code if I need to change something, then preview, then completely delete the code again to make changes by using the magic wand, etc.
I like the ALB simplicity, but I also like the featured image, excerpt feature, etc. . . seems like it might be nice to have access to both.

Knew it was buried in there somewhere, though I thought it would’ve been in the Sidebar tab.

July 21, 2023 at 8:12 pm in reply to: Blog page, masonry. I want to put all categories at top #1413993Update: My workaround for having the categories across the top is to add a text box with each category listed and linked.
Still need posts to be ordered by date as in your demo page.
July 21, 2023 at 5:18 pm in reply to: Blog page, masonry. I want to put all categories at top #1413983I set my Filter settings to: Display all, Display all, Deactivate offset, Always display element. It still shows up in random order that changes every time you refresh. I have cleared all caches in WordPress, cleared my browser data (firefox, up to date) and browser history, and re-saved the changes. I also tried in a cleared browser in Chrome with same ever-changing random order.
I’m putting my info in private box. Thx,
JonJuly 21, 2023 at 7:53 am in reply to: Blog page, masonry. I want to put all categories at top #1413904Getting closer. I didn’t know that the Blog Posts element could be set to use Grid–I saw Masonry and assumed that was there for that kind of setup. I got it set up to order by date where I select the starting date and leave the end date blank. The trouble is, the list still shows everything in random order.
website is gatehealing.com/blog/Could you provide custom css to fix the issue with the order being random in spite of choosing the Filter by Date?

July 20, 2023 at 9:25 pm in reply to: Blog page, masonry. I want to put all categories at top #1413865Oh, I also mentioned that trying to put a side bar while using the masonry element does not work. A side bar with a categories widget would be fine . . . that’s what I do for individual posts. If there is no css code possible to just list category links at the top, then how do I get the sidebar to work with masonry? I can get the sidebar to show, but the masonry posts cover it up.
If I choose Grid in Theme Options > Blog Layout > Blog Layout, then I get the sidebar, and the grid is ok, but the posts just show up in random order . . .I need them to be ordered by date. So, if neither of the above can work, is there custom css to make Grid Layout show posts in date order?

July 20, 2023 at 6:12 pm in reply to: Blog page, masonry. I want to put all categories at top #1413856Yes, I am using the masonry element on my Blog Page where I set up how posts are shown.
Previously, questions like this were addressed with simple Custom CSS code when features like this were not available. I am hoping there is something I can do to simply show all categories at the top instead of only categories of posts shown on each page without having to change dates or show too many posts on one page.Is this possible? Some kind of CSS code to show all categories instead of just categories shown on each page? Almost seems like simpler code than telling the theme to assess which categories are shown on a page, then only pull up those categories to list, especially since each page would be different.
Thanks for any advice y’all may have with Custom CSS–this is really why I paid for the support to be activated again. If y’all don’t provide this type of support anymore, then I’d like to discuss a prorated refund since that would mean then nature of the support services has changed.
JonJuly 29, 2020 at 8:59 am in reply to: Question about Google indexing wp-content/theme stuff . . . seems irrelevant? #1233910Thanks Mike. The folks over at Google Webmaster Forum said that I ought to leave them? I’m very confused as I tend to agree with you, but I admittedly am not a tech expert, and certainly not a Google expert. I’m lucky if I don’t crash the entire internet when I tie my shoes.
Here are the 2 responses I get from the folks at Google Search Console Community Help Forum:

1) Barry is shown to be a Platinum Product Expert, and I have had some good help from him in the past:
He says,
“That pages appears to be generated by mod_autoindex
https://httpd.apache.org/docs/2.4/mod/mod_autoindex.html
Couple of options
1) Ignore them. these are not important pages – doesn’t really matter that google has indexed them.
2) Disable them. Do you really need mod_autoindex? Most of the time is enabled by accident, rather than something
wilful. Doesn’t really harm for most part, but doesnt help anything either.
https://www.google.com/search?q=disable+mod_autoindex
3) Noindex them. As not important pags, could just prevent google indexing them. (while keeping them available for
USERs). eg could inject the noindex HTTP header. Can’t be done with robots.txt

2) William does not show to be “expert”, but does seem to know what he is talking about . . . but that has backfired on me before.
He says,
“Hi Jonathan, most of those folders contain resources (JS, CSS and images) but they do not have any content so they can not rank on their own for any keywords. Have not said that, Google Bot needs to be allowed to access all resources that are required for rendering the page. Those files will not hurt your ranking, but if you want to block them to reduce server load, make sure you do not block resources that are required to render the page, you can use the Google Mobile Friendly tool to find out if you are blocking any resources that are required for rendering.”

I am barely able to understand these things. Are you able to make heads or tails of it? If having those pages indexed won’t hurt anything, then I’ll just leave them (unless they start showing up when people search for Anxiety Counseling in Austin (and other related searches). No problem on the delay. I know Covid has us all on wonky schedules. Thanks!

I had to search google to find the answer . . . for some reason, searching in the Enfold Support area did not find the thread that came up via Google.
It’s because I had the homepage saved as a Draft. Little bug that may be good to notate on the Theme Options page over on the right side where y’all describe the fields. . . ie “if you save your homepage as a ‘draft’ then the FrontPage setting and Area to Display Blog setting will not be available until you publish.”
Just a suggestion.
