It appears that I can only publish posts using the Default Editor and not the Advanced Layout Editor. . . which is fine, so we can close this unless this shouldn’t be happening and y’all would like to look into it.
J
SEO folks said it’s probably better to leave them as-is since I already have -austin in the parent page of /family-dynamics.
We can close the thread. I can come back and re-post if this happens again, but I don’t think it will..
Thanks y’all
JonYes to both questions. Let’s hold off on actually making the change, but yes, if I change it, it’ll be to /family-counseling-austin/
JOn
HA! Not sure how I left that out in the OP.
It’s https://gatehealing.com/counseling-austin-tx/family-counseling/Thanks.
I’m leaving it as-is for now while I wait to hear from seo company if having ausin in “counseling-austin-tx” and on teh family counseling url is too much.J
it’s not happening on other pages, so that’s odd. I think I can just copy the contents of this page, delete the page, then re-create it with the new URL and title.
Feel free to take a look though . . .it is definitely an odd behavior. May be interesting to learn what did it in case it happens to other folks.

Hi Rikard,
I went ahead and published the page, but the permalink still will not keep the -austin addition when I update.J
Nikko,
Disregard. . . something weird with w3 plugin. Not sure if the changes you made caused something with w3 total cache or not. I do konw that I use a child theme . . . should the changes you made have been in the parent theme or the child theme?
I am getting with w3 total cache authors to troubleshoot as well.
J
perhaps you changed me from being an admin?
Nikko
Thanks! Is there any chance you did anything that may have messed something up with my access? I had to reset my password, and once I got in, there are no pages, posts, settings etc links down the left sidebar?
Jon
HI Nikko,
I just looked at my sitemap, and it appears to have reverted back to the sloppier version where there are no tabs. I am unable to find where you set the theme to “always load all elements.”
Any ideas?

July 20, 2019 at 6:32 am in reply to: Do I compress JS/CSS if using Autoptimzie, W3 and Cloudflare? #1120387FINALLY!!!! After MONTHS of going round and round with my dang host, which everybody was saying the issue seemed to be my server, EXCEPT them . . . they kept saying “it’s the plugins,” or “it’s the theme,” or “its the CDN” . . . they finally relented and changed me to a closer server . . . BAM! My TTFB goes instantly from F to A.
I’m nearly convinced they wanted me to purchase dedicated hosting. Maybe not, but wow, that took too long.
I did learn a lot. Y’all were very patient as I tried to figure this out. Thank you!
JonJuly 19, 2019 at 10:33 pm in reply to: Do I compress JS/CSS if using Autoptimzie, W3 and Cloudflare? #1120357I disabled everything and the TTFB went up to over a second.
I had already tried disabling all but W3 total cache and autoptimize, and everything except one of those, and both of those off but wp super cache on, and it was still 750ms (so the caching plugins help, but even with all other plugins off, the ttfb is nearly a second).
Other ideas of what may be happening if it’s not plugins?

July 18, 2019 at 5:56 am in reply to: Do I compress JS/CSS if using Autoptimzie, W3 and Cloudflare? #1119780Thanks. I use all of those . . .that’s where I’m seeing the problem with TTFB that led me to trying to figure out what is going on. My site is too small and simple to be having a 500ms ttfb. One of the sites says that it is likely a technical issue with my site, so I think I need to look at the theme, my server and my plugins.

July 17, 2019 at 7:15 pm in reply to: Do I compress JS/CSS if using Autoptimzie, W3 and Cloudflare? #1119669I don’t need to activate Gzip or Brotli at all in either plugin? Does the theme compress in the same way that W3 Total Cache and CloudFlare does?

July 6, 2019 at 5:21 am in reply to: Current version of Enfold compatible with WordPress 5.2.1? #1116139WordFence author gave me a simple piece of php.ini code to turn something off that managed to fix the issue.
Turned out that autoptimize was also creating problems and that theme author told me to deselect “optimize excluded css/js script”That fixed the issue altogether. At least for now . . . fingers crossed!

No prob, just wanted to be sure there wasn’t another feature in the template someplace I had missed.

July 2, 2019 at 9:19 pm in reply to: Current version of Enfold compatible with WordPress 5.2.1? #1115278Hi Ismael,
The trouble with disabling plugins is that the issue I am concerned about is when my site is crawled by Google Bot, and I don’t know when that happens, so I’d have to leave some pretty important plugins disabled. I am going to go look thru my plugins to see if there are any others I can temporarily disable (like wordfence) that might help.I am about to email my host support to ask about the ajax issue. Really appreciate the help here.
JonHi Nikko,
What do you mean, “you can use some html sitemap temporarily.” Do you mean a html sitemap plugin?

July 1, 2019 at 6:03 am in reply to: Current version of Enfold compatible with WordPress 5.2.1? #1114790I’m not sure what folder/file permissions I would’ve changed? The only change I have made that might relate is that my username for my server was set as SFTP user – allows login via SFTP (SSH file transfer) for file transfers only, then I changed it to Shell user – allows login via SSH (secure shell) for command-line access, as well as SFTP (was hoping that would help me access some error logs as per some of their instructions)
But I changed it back.
Wordfence and all other plugins are updated. I’m not sure how to check and see if any files are corrupted, but I’ll send this info along to my host as well.

June 27, 2019 at 5:02 pm in reply to: Current version of Enfold compatible with WordPress 5.2.1? #1114022I’ll let my host know about that. I am on a shared host, but since my site is so small (very few images/vids, mostly all text, local business with extremely low traffic, etc.) I should not be getting any of these memory kills, so something is causing too much bandwidth to be eaten up, and we cannot seem to figure out what it is. I am hesitant to think they are just trying to upsell me to a dedicated server when even the SEO company I have hired is saying that a shared server should be all I need given the reasons above.
Do the warnings listed cause bots to re-crawl, or otherwise cause more memory to be used when bots crawl the site (this seems to be an issue specifically related to when my site is crawled . . . I have added a crawl delay, and they have moved to some Unbuto (or something like that) server that they say will help . . .though they also assured me that I would not hit memory limits with a site as small and low traffic as mine, so who knows if that will help or not.
J
That looks better . . . is having all elements loaded going to cause more burden on my shared server? I ask bc I am already having some issues when my site is so small in size that it shouldn’t be getting the memory kills that it is getting.
JOn
Thanks Nikko.
That worked for getting rid of date archives. But the format still looks pretty sloppy. The Google Drive link below shows a screenshot. You’ll notice that the the first couple of section titles are to the left margin, but the last one is to the right. Also, above Available Pages is just a normal font word Pages, and above Archive by Subject is the word Categories. (Similarly, above the most recent blog posts bolded section title is a normal font word “Blog Posts.” Those normal font pieces look redundant. If I can get that site map page to look more professional, that would be ideal.

I do see multiple errors regarding the theme,

June 14, 2019 at 10:04 pm in reply to: Current version of Enfold compatible with WordPress 5.2.1? #1110511I’ll try to find where the 5xx errors are listed. I’m not sure how I’d recognize if they are related to Enfold or not . .. .but I’m pretty sure this isn’t an Enfold issue, I was just checking in good faith so I can go back to my host and get them to track down the issue
It says to only do that if NOT using a caching program. I am using WP super cache. Should I still do this?
I think we can close it. Thanks!
