Yes but 2 minutes time the number of site time the number of enfold’s update a year makes easily a lot of time every year.
Automatic update is
I am managing about 20 website using Enfold as Theme.
So 2 *20 = 40 minutes for each update of Enfold.

Easy Update Manager is the most used automatic update plugin on wordpress, it has over 100.000 active installations : https://wordpress.org/plugins/stops-core-theme-and-plugin-updates/
On top of that, Easy Update Manager is the ideal companion of UpdraftPlus WordPress Backup Plugin which has over 2 million active installations.

The update is blocked because of the Envato API. I guess the work has to be done by Easy Update Manager to implement it.
However, if you would contact and help them to integrate the API (as you know it better), the solution might be find faster and help your users.
