  • Ok, that’s great to know, thanks a lot!

    Thanks for the reply, so I mean, if you have 6 images you want to show on one page and the original file size of each image is 5mb, how can you ensure that when the page loads, it’s not loading 6 x 5mb files (30mb), but is instead loads much faster as it’s only using thumbnail files for each image, but then when you click each image, it shows the full 5mb file as the enlarged full res version and only then does it need the extra 5mb of bandwidth/data allowance. Does enfold do this automatically, so in essence, there is 2 versions of each of the 6 images, one thumbnail version and one full res?

    Hi Ismael,
    Thanks for the message. I think a secondary lightbox plugin was the issue, I think there were two active on my wordpress account, so the 1 was disabled and it fixed the image now, actually, I think it was fixed by the time you replied which may be why you could reproduce it :)

    So by selecting the thumnail size in the attachment display settings as you mention, it creates a separate image and isn’t the original 5mb file, just appearing smaller, so when the page is loaded, it’s not loading 6 x 5mb image files, but is just loading 6 x small thumnail files of maybe less than 1mb total instead of 30?

    Hi, thanks for the reply. I’m having some issues with timeouts on the site right now, if you try refresh a few times, it should work hopefully after the first attempt :)

    Thanks for the reply. Ok, hopefully my developer will be able to figure it out anyway so they can be displayed correctly :)

    Thanks again for the reply. Yep, I have the original file, do you suggest to upload it direct to wordpress or perhaps some other method?

    Hey Josue,
    The video section in question is at http://www.vantasks.ie/contact towards the bottom :)

    in reply to: Slider VS Background Plugin? #609454

    Hey Ismael,
    Thanks a lot for that, it worked :) I cut the video down so it doesn’t fade in/fade out on youtube, but when it loops now there’s a black frame flash instead of a continuous looking loop. I don’t suppose you’ve any ideas about that? Maybe it’s a youtube thing and not enfold though?

    in reply to: Slider VS Background Plugin? #608287

    Sorry, maybe plugin isn’t the correct term, yes all functions I’m talking about are just options in Enfold and nothing is a third party plugin.

    So Color Section won’t pose any issues with compatibility of different devices/resolutions etc and won’t have any negative impact on SEO etc where layer slider may have been better?

    Sorry, I’m not too familiar with all this, I’m just the site owner, not a developer :)

    Would anyone know how to change the video section I have on the /contact page to a different position so you can see the vans in the section?

    Thanks a lot for the help so far :)

    in reply to: Slider VS Background Plugin? #607657

    Hi,
    Thanks for the reply, Sorry, I should have been more clear, when I say plugins, I mean the options in the Enfold theme itself.

    Please see the following image: http://i.imgur.com/ColEOXx.jpg

    The method on the homepage edit options (background) and the method on the contact page (slider), produce almost identical results other than what I mentioned above from what I can see,

    Most of the site is using the slider option but using the background method was suggested over this, and is currently in use ONLY on the homepage.

    I’m just wondering, given the purpose behind the enfold slider option is to produce these kinds of placements on the page, is there any other issues that may not be so apparent with using the background option instead of the slider option? I was told it’s a smaller plugin than the slider one so will load quicker etc for visitors.

    I’m then also wondering about the inclusion of video in either option too :)

    Any further help would be great!

    Oh that looks like what I’m looking for, thanks a lot for that!!

    in reply to: Closed for Christmas Overlay Landing Page? #546090

    Thanks a lot for the reply Elliott,
    Is a splash page a whole different page that you need to click and it then loads another page, or is it just a welcome pop up that’s over the main page? I don’t want it to be a different page, just a quick welcome message that can easily be closed while the site itself is already loaded underneath it, so I guess a mix between what you see when you visit: https://www.groupon.ie in that you can just click out of it and see the main page, but I’d also like it a bit fancier and to perhaps have the background page blurred or mixed in with another low opacity image such as Christmas lights or something :)

    Is that a Splash Screen so, or would it be something else?

    in reply to: Hot Spot Links (and open in new window?) #383950

    Thanks a lot for the reply. I haven’t tried your solution, but I actually managed to get it by simply choosing the add link option and then putting this in the manual field:

    http://www.url.com target="_blank"

    and it works perfect :)

    in reply to: Some slight nags in theme. #382300

    Thanks a lot for the reply. Wow, that works perfect on desktop and gives me exactly what I wanted, but unfortunately on mobile it is making the testimonial text appear under the contact form below it.

    Funny enough, my developer messaged me about 2 minutes after I received your reply and he has found a solution using a different css code that resolves the issue on mobile of the underlapping:

    #top .avia-slider-testimonials.avia-testimonial-wrapper .avia-testimonial-row {
    display: table;
    }

    So two almost identical solutions within 2 minutes, 9 days after posting the issue, that’s funny timing :)

    Thanks a lot for your help with this everyone, I believe it’s taken care of now, whooo!

    That worked :) Thanks a lot! That’s everything in this post addressed now :) If I can get the testimonial issue sorted here: https://kriesi.at/support/topic/some-slight-nags-in-theme/ that should be pretty much everything :)

    Thanks for the suggestion. I installed a new twitter plugin, “easy twitter feed plugin” and it seems to be getting the feed no problem, however the title of it, when it’s in the footer by itself, is lower than the “Recent posts”, “Share this page” and “Info” titles of the other footer sections, “From Twitter” appears a few pixels below. I currently have both plugins active in the 1st column of the footer and the “From Twitter” of the “Really simple twitter feed” appears in line with the rest. If I remove that plugin from the footer, the “Easy twitter feed” one is below. Is there any way to align a plugin to the top or in line with the rest?

    in reply to: Some slight nags in theme. #382159

    Hi again Elliott,
    Thanks for the message. I’m not looking to change the height of anything or add more white space etc to the page. I want all sections to remain the same size on the page, and just have the testimonials transition without changing anything else on the page, including the height of the page, the position of the left/right testimonial scroll arrows, or the “Some words from our clients” title on the testimonial section.

    My developer managed to keep the overall height of the page the same and not change based on testimonial length, but the left/right scroll arrows and “Some words from our clients” were still moving depending on the amount of words in each different testimonial. All content of the testimonial section was being centred with each transition, as opposed to the arrows and Title staying in the same position. Please see the screenshot I inked to above which shows what I mean.

    Since then, he managed to keep the title in a fixed position at the top, but the arrows are still changing position depending on the amount of words in each testimonial. I just want everything to stay in position and the only thing that should appear to change, is the amount of words in each testimonial, the clients logo etc.

    Thanks again for your continued input and I’m hoping that explains it a little better?

    Just wondering if anyone would have any further info on this please? Would really appreciate help on it!

    in reply to: Some slight nags in theme. #381160

    Hi, thanks for the reply :)

    I’m not trying to create any white space actually, this is the problem:
    http://easycaptures.com/fs/uploaded/716/5768987214.jpg

    This is two screenshots merged together. Note how the whole content of this section centres itself in the section when changed, so when the testimonial is long “Some words from our clients” goes closer to the top as do the arrows, when the testimonial is short, they become closer to centre. I want “Some words from our clients” and the left/right arrows to always stay in the same position and the only thing that will appear to change is the testimonial text, author name and logo. I’d like both to be closer to the top like in the left screenshot to allow enough room for long testimonials.

    I think my developer tried this code given above:

    #top .avia-slider-testimonials.avia-testimonial-wrapper {
    position: absolute;
    }

    But it ended up appearing under the contact form on mobile?

    Would really appreciate any help on this :)

    Thanks for the suggestions :)

    1) Unfortunately this didn’t work. I tried many different options with plugin settings but none worked so I contacted plugin author and sent him debug info and message:

    “I recently relaunched my site, I noticed the twitter feed wasn’t working before relaunch on the old site, on the testing site of the new website, it was working fine, but then once the new site replaced the old site, the feed stopped working on the new site again for some reason?

    I tried a debug and got this:
    RSTW Debug info enabled
    RSTW Using cached Twitter data
    Warning: preg_replace(): Compilation failed: PCRE does not support \L, \l, \N, \P, \p, \U, \u, or \X at offset 12 in /usr/local/pem/vhosts/109452/webspace/httpdocs/vantasks.ie/wp-content/plugins/really-simple-twitter-feed-widget/really_simple_twitter_widget.php on line 526

    It seems to be fetching the date of the last tweet etc, but not the actual tweet?

    I tried regenerate the keys etc but still no luck.”

    ========He responded by asking: it seems that your live site hosting configuration (php version at least) is different (older and supporting and older release of PCRE) than your test site. Can you tell me the PHP version running on your two sites?

    2) I’ve used contact form 7 on the old site. Is it safe to use this within enfold, or would it be safer to use the enfold contact form for any reason? (updates etc?)

    in reply to: Some slight nags in theme. #379725

    Ooh, thanks a lot for the reply. That first bit of code you gave worked, kind of :) it made the arrows and title stay in the same place, but it moved the whole lot down and into the next section of the page, the footer code didn’t seem to change anything, I even changed it up to 150px and still no change.

    I think my developer must have done something with the section of testimonial that when I put in your code, it doesn’t keep the text within the section itself?

    in reply to: Post Launch Issues – Weren't present on testing page?! #379715

    Sorry, I forgot to mention this also:

    When the site went live, the font seemed to change from what it was like on the test server, bear in mind that all settings in enfold were unchanged, I saw the “websafe fonts fallback for windows” option and tried deactivate it and it made the fonts appear as they did on the test server, which I prefer, but are there any risks to having this deactivated?

    Also, if using yoast, is it best to leave the analytic field empty on the enfold options?

    in reply to: Some slight nags in theme. #378658

    Hi guys, thanks a lot for the replies.

    That’s really weird, my post was up for over 28 hours with no replies and then I receive 2 replies within a minute of eachother? :D

    1) It seems Andy’s response to input:

    #top #menu-item-search.menu-item-search-dropdown>a {
    display: none;
    }

    has worked. I didn’t try your suggestion Yigit, but thank you for that also. Out of curiosity, why would the code work and not clicking off the magnifying glass option in the theme options?

    2) If you look at this demo page:
    http://kriesi.at/themes/enfold/shortcodes/testimonials/

    You will see the footer moves position based on the length of the testimonial, this isn’t ideal and I asked my developer to change it, what he did has now resulted in the whole testimonial text including logo, title, testimonial etc in the section he has assigned for testimonial slides (in order for the footer not to move) to move up/down. I would like to keep the title and arrows in a fixed position and only have the testimonial text increas/logo position change based on the text length.

    Thanks again for any help!

    Thanks a lot for that Elliott, I think the developer has gotten around it somehow but I’ll pass on the info if necessary :) Thanks again!

    in reply to: Using code block to transfer content from old theme? #376600

    Hi Elliot,
    Ok that’s cool to hear. I just didn’t want it affecting the way the site is rendered on certain displays, SEO or anything like that :)

    thanks for the reply!

    in reply to: Custom changes when options aren't in Enfold Editor #375626

    Thanks a lot Yigit, I’d be needing to be displaying different sized logos too, although I rendered all the logo images as the same shape and dimensions to keep them uniform regardless of the logo shape itself so I’m not sure if simply removing the roundness will aid, but I guess I can use the child theme to get it exactly how I need without risk of updates making problems?

    By the way, almost every time I click submit on these messages, I’m taken to a blank page and it appears like nothing happens, I have to click back and submit again and then it usually works fine..
