Perfect, thanks. Without knowing where to look, one has no idea what these things do!

    (above) I should have said
“I don’t need to use single.php as a blog page within the theme/website. However, the plugin I am using outputs individual jobs onto single.php regardless of which theme it is used with. ”

I know I’m not a php expert (I know absolutely squat) but surely it isn’t difficult for you guys to explain to a dunce like me how to change a php page template from having a sidebar to not having a sidebar? I even managed to work out how to do it for myself with other themes by creating an edited php template in the child theme, but in your single.php there is nothing I can see how to edit.

Please, I’ve been waiting a while for an answer to this.

I can’t send you the url of a page because I’m currently creating the site offline until it’s in something close to finished state.

I’m not sure how I can send you a mock-up. All I want is to have single.php full-width as a full-width page by default, not with a sidebar. That’s all!

I don’t need to use single.php as a blog page within the theme/website. However, the plugin I am using outputs individual jobs onto single-php regardless of which template it is used with. At present, I am obliged to have an empty sidebar, which I don’t want. I would normally be able to edit the template, but I see nothing to edit in this case.

Sorry to repeat the question, but how do I make the single.php template full-width?
    Thanks

    Hello,

I am using a plugin (WP Job Manager) that uses single.php for ‘job detail’ pages. I don’t appear to be able to change that – well, I know from the plugin author that what I need to is edit single.php. I know I can create a child version of single php but don’t know HOW to apply a full-width format to the template. I don’t want sidebars on these pages.

    I hope that explains it!

By the way, I still have the same issue with this support side that I did a while ago; after clicking submit, I just get a whitescreen and have to refresh the page to see anything. Using current version of firefox.

Unrelated; every time I post a message here today, all I get is a white screen after posting that will not go away.
    Using firefox.

Okay, I just found a bunch of other questions relating to this – I use different themes and not all have searchable forums, so forgot to do it. I’m sure I will manage, but if I can’t find the solution myself I’ll repost this, so you can close it if you like.

    Thank you!

in reply to: Removing 'register' from login page #381733

Thanks for that but would that prevent users from registering through means other than the standard login form?

I have forms that allow users to register, but in a controlled way, so that they perform specific tasks, provide specific information and are then given the correct user classification. I don’t want to stop that; only random registration via the standard login form.

Sorry to ask again but I want to be sure about this!!

    Fichtenelch,

Thank you for deciding my ticket can be closed. Unless you are the arbiter of all things internet, kindly go start your own tickets. I have retained the old version because it created problems; your issues are not connected.

Had you or anybody else taken the time to read subsequent posts you would see the issues also affected a new install.

One week after the problem arose, or maybe more now, it still exists and I’m still not willing to mess up my site with an unpgrade that requires manually rebuilding every page. If it’s okay with you, I’d like a fix. I’m guessing other people who raised the same issue here and elsewhere would too.

I know that I can adjust settings as explained in the first reply to this post, and which in the opening message I said I’d done.
I also said that I had decided to abort the upgrade as it looked as if it would create too much repair work.

Did you read my later post?

What happened to the tradition of responding to tickets raised?

    This upgrade is a nightmare.

I’d sorted the site out properly and was disappointed to see that it broke sidebars and widgets, and also affected css. I hadn’t deleted the original theme, only moved it, so I put it all back together and my main site is still using 2.9.something.

I created a second site so that I could set up a duplicate site to experiment on and see what was going wrong. I installed wp4 on the new domain, added the latest 3.whatever version of enfold (downloaded today) , then copied the child theme across. I imported the pages and widgets, having exported them from my original site, then tried to stitch it all together.

I looked at the home page after trying to fix stuff and realised the css was messed up. It seems the child css was being overridden by a styles.css that has appeared in uploads/dynamic_avia. I have no idea where that comes from as it uses colours (for example for the header text) that I haven’t been using on this site or the original. If I delete that css file, the child theme css still isn’t working, nor apparently is the main theme css – I’ve got what I suppose are default blue menu items and zero background, for example.

It isn’t a case of not having overwriten the original theme files. They never existed on the new domain. And most of the tickets I’ve been reading along similar lines don’t seem to be getting definitive answers. Including this one. It’s now 5 posts without reply.

So any chance of a reply? Seems this isn’t a one-person problem.

    Hi,

Nope, no modifications. When I set the site up I didn’t use sidebars at all, and only added them once the rest was okay.
That said, as I said above, I tried adjusting the dimensions (I saw mention in another post) and it didn’t change anything.

in reply to: Social share buttons #311570

I don’t really want share buttons in the header, but while searching earlier posts, I came across this: https://kriesi.at/support/topic/placing-addthis-social-icons-into-the-header/ but it seems to refer to a settings option that I can’t find. Is there a menu somewhere that relates to social buttons or addthis?

in reply to: Sidebar, changing display of sub pages #308933

    Hi,

Yes, I was trying to use enfold buttons first, then others from a plugin. I eventually tried the standard text plugin (I’d avoided it because it means creating stuff elsewhere and copying it into the text box afterwards and I was reluctant to do that) and found that it worked with 3rd party buttons. I didn’t have time to look at enfold buttons, so I’ll have another look tonight. I suppose I’m just being lazy.

    Thanks for the answer.

in reply to: Sidebar, changing display of sub pages #308682

Thank you, I’l have a look. I thought it would be possible through the theme, so I hadn’t looked at plugins.

I do have one small problem though; I used the ‘text blocks’ plugin to try and add text/image/button blocks to my sidebars and although it works fine with image and text, if I add a button it only displays the shortcode text in the sidebar, not a button. Is there a similar plugin you know of which is compatible with Enfold? I know I can use an extra button plugin, but I’m trying to avoid using too many plugins if possible and I had been hoping that your buttons would be sufficient.

in reply to: Incorrect page titles #308421

    That did the job, thanks!

in reply to: Incorrect page titles #305945

Yes, thanks for that. Actually, I gave thw rong link. My fault. The page type where the page titles are still wrong (which I think part of your code was for) is seen here: http://www.eltjob.com/?job_listing_region=europe whereas the individual pages (that I incorectly pasted the ink for) have been okay since the first code snippet.

The one I mean has ‘Archive for:’ in the title.

    Brian

in reply to: Incorrect page titles #305803

    Ignore my previous:

Sorry; upon closer inspection I saw that there was part of the original code in my functions.php. I have now deleted that, and it no longer gives a white screen. However, although the single pages now show the correct title, the ‘archive’ pages (for example: http://www.eltjob.com/?job_listing_region=europe) still show ‘Archive for: Europe’ and I only want “Europe” (Ideally, I want “Jobs in Europe”). So, although the code doesn’t crash the pages, it doesn’t do the job fully.

Is there something else I can change? Maybe I need to create a different template to output the data?

in reply to: Incorrect page titles #305796

Sorry but that does exactly the same. Added to functions.php it just creates a white screen. I’m assuming it was intended for functions.php? I believe I gave you an admin login in my first post; can you take a look because unless I’m doing something wrong (with cut and paste?) there must be an error in the code.

I have now deleted the code.

    Thanks

in reply to: Incorrect page titles #305274

Actually, I tried adding ; } to close the first piece of code, and it allowed the pages to open, but they had no titles at all.
The title block just didn’t display at all. Rather than make a mess, I gave up and will wait for your help!

    Thanks

in reply to: Incorrect page titles #305272

Hi, thanks for that, but all it did as give me a pretty white page…. I’m no expert but I think the first bit of code needs something to close it. I tried to do it but didn’t succeed. I had to delete the code.
