    Hi Nikko,

    Thank you so much. I really appreciate you have taken the time to explain how parent themes and child themes interact. Now I understand how it works :-)

    Thank you for the tip regarding cPanel. I have now managed through cPanel to do the customization, and it works as described.

    You are now welcome to close this thread.

    Best regards,
    Birgitte

    Hi Nikko,

    Thank you so much for your help and quick response.

    I have now moved my custom CSS from Enfold Child > General Styling > Quick CSS
    to Appearance > Editor > Enfold Child Style.css
    And it works smoothly.

    Again … thank you very much. You can now close this thread.

    Best regards,
    Birgitte

    Hi Nikko,

    Thank you for your reply.

    Re. 1 above: In the case from 2014 ( https://kriesi.at/support/topic/related-posts-based-on-category-2/ ) they:

    a. first modify the related-posts.php file in the parent theme
    b. and then copy that modified file from the parent theme to the child theme.

    But I wonder whether it would be better in my case to:

    a. first copy the original related-posts.php file from the parent theme to the child theme
    b. and then modify the file in the child theme, so I don’t modify the related-posts.php file in the parent theme??

    And … is the only way to do this exercise via FTP or is there another way to do it?

    Best regards,
    Birgitte

    Hi Nikko,

    Thank you for your quick response.

    And whatever you did – it was magic :-) Thank you so much. It is really appreciated.

    Should the “Enfold Theme Options > Performance > JS & CSS file merging and compression” be turned on again after the installation of the child theme, or should I leave it turned off?

    Best regards,
    Birgitte

    in reply to: Child theme does not look like parent theme #1343060

    I even had the hosting supplier to empty the server cache, but still the child theme website does not look like the parent theme.

    Hi Ismael,

    Thank you for your reply.

    I haven’t used the child theme before. I have just installed it now, but having problems with it, so I have opened another thread for that specific purpose: https://kriesi.at/support/topic/child-theme-does-not-look-like-parent-theme/

    It is also first time I have to change in a php file, so I have the following questions:

    1. When you say I have to edit the related-posts.php file is it then in the parent theme or in the the child theme? What do you mean by “you can override the template file in the child theme directory if necessary”?

    2. Where do I find instructions on how to find the related-posts.php file and edit it?

    Best regards,
    Birgitte

    in reply to: Automatic Enfold theme update in WordPress? #1239995

    Hi again

    Logging into WordPress today – the Enfold options in WordPress are back again – for unknown reasons (but the Enfold theme version were not updated yet).

    Therefore I was now able to access the Theme Update page again, so I could update the Envato private token as it seems like Envato has decided to deprecate its old API key, since I registred the first time. So my Envato private token is now validated again in WordPress, which now made it possible for me to update the Enfold theme version as usual via WordPress.

    Everything is now up-to-date again, and you can close this topic. Thank you for your support.

    Best regards,
    Birgitte

    Yes, I have a full website backup. I cross my fingers for your update attempt :-)

    Hi Victoria,
    Yes, it would be great, if you could help me with the update, so it can get back on track :-)

    Reg. the missing Enfold options in WordPress I have now also tried to clear the browser cache, but they are still missing.

    Best regards,

    I have now tried to deactivate all the plugins, but all Enfold options are still not available, so I will activate them again – and I am still unable to update the Enfold theme. Any other solutions?

    in reply to: Automatic Enfold theme update in WordPress? #1238868

    Active plugins:
    – Google XML Sitemaps
    – Social Media Widget
    – Under Construction
    – Widget Logic
    – WP-Cycle

    Inactive plugins:
    – Sociable

    Hi Michael.

    In WordPress it says Enfold 4.5.1. No, I don’t see an update available.
    In WordPress I can actually only open the Enfold Theme Options, but not any of the other Enfold navigation links.

    I tried, but that is unfortunately not the issue. Besides Enfold -> General styling -> Fonts -> Default content font size = 15px.

    Okay, you can find a screenshot in the dropbox link provided below in the private content area.

    What I am trying to achieve is the non-existing solution in the ALB Icon Box: “display small icon at the left side of the content” (instead of at the left side of the title), where the icon is horizontally aligned with the first line in the content area, and not using a title, and a long text is vertically starting at the same left place (instead of wrapping around below the icon)

    I have settled with the tweak of the Icon Box you can see on this page (see private data below). I have used the following code to Quick CSS:

    #iconboxwhite .iconbox {
    background-color: #FFFFFF!important;
    }

    #iconboxgrey .iconbox {
    background-color: #f8f8f8!important;
    }

    #iconboxgrey .iconbox,#iconboxwhite .iconbox {
    min-height: 15px; padding: 10px;
    }

    #iconboxgrey .iconbox_content_title,#iconboxwhite .iconbox_content_title, #iconboxlist .iconbox_content_title {
    font-family: inherit!important;
    color: inherit!important;
    font-weight: normal!important;
    text-transform: none!important;
    font-size: 15px!important;
    }

    which means I use the iconbox title to be able to use a small icon left to the text and have the small icon aligned with the first line in the text right to the icon. That leaves me with the two following issues:

    1) I want the text to look like paragraph text. Right now it seems like the letter-spacing between the characters in the text is larger with my Quick CSS, than there is in my default paragraph text.

    2) I don’t want a long text is wrapping around the icon (below the icon). I want all the text to start at the same left place next to the icon (like if you invisibly had a column for the icons and a column for the text)

    Is there any way to easier get to the result that ALB Icon Box: “display small icon at the left side of the content” (instead of at the left side of the title), where the icon is horizontally aligned with the first line in the content area, and not using a title, and a long text is vertically starting at the same left place (instead of wrapping around the icon)?

    Or how do I solve it within my existing tweaks?

    Thanks, Yigit.

    Thanks, Andy. It worked with this code inside Quick CSS field (because it default also was bold):

    h3.widgettitle {
    font-size: 16px !important;
    font-weight: bold !important;
    }

    Is there anyway to tell the widgettitle in Quick CSS, that it should just take the default font-size or font-weight instead of having me defining the size etc?

    in reply to: H2 styling not behaving the same way on the same page #697673

    Thanks, Ismael. Yes, it is working now, when all the elements are in color sections. I did not use color sections for the sections which had the background color I wanted, but that caused the problem with the subsequent headings. Thank you so much for your help.

    in reply to: Blog does not show right sidebar #697572

    Oh, I found a solution. I found Enfold -> Sidebar Settings, which seems to overrule, what I choose on the blog page itself in the right sidebar under Sidebar Settings.

    in reply to: Page Title vs Page Meta Title? #697517

    Great, Yigit. Just to be sure:

    1) if I choose to hide Header Title (under Enfold – Header – Header Layout) and I in a text box add a H1 tag to a text, will the search engines then only find one H1 on the page (the H1 from the text box)?

    2) If I choose to hide Header Title (under Enfold – Header – Header Layout) and I don’t add a text box with a H1 tag to a text, will the search engines then don’t find any H1’s on the page?

    in reply to: Page Title vs Page Meta Title? #697447

    Thanks for the description, Yigit.

    Right now I have chosen not to display the title in the title bar, because I don’t like the design of it. For example I want some pages to have an image to the right and the Page Title to the right of that image. Or I want a large centered Title in the top of the page. (See links in Private Content area). I am using the Avia Layout Builder.

    So are you saying, that doing it that way I then have two H1’s, which I guess is not good for SEO?

    Is there any way I can then show the pre-entered title in the kind of design I want?

    Thanks, Yigit. That solved the issue.

    in reply to: H2 styling not behaving the same way on the same page #696530

    Any news from your devs on when the issue is expected to be fixed? (yes, the temporary work arounds are working, I just prefer to use the “Advanced styling” module instead of too much Quick CSS).

    in reply to: H2 styling not behaving the same way on the same page #685055

    If you login and look at the page I sent you (all necessary info is in private content below), then you will see all the bold headings on the page are H2’s, but the first two bold headings are shown with a larger font size than all the bold headlines below the first two bold headlines. It seems like it is only the first two H2’s reacting to the changes in font size, that I entered in Enfold -> Advanced Styling -> H2 ?

    That’s why it seems like there somehow is a bug in Enfold -> Advanced Styling -> H2, because my settings in there only seems to work for the first to H2’s on the page? I don’t want manually to edit each H2 element on a page. The theme has a way to adjust it in one place, but for some reason it is not reflected on all the H2’s on the page.
