Thank you very much, Günter!
I really do hope this will be fixed in a timely manner. As an Austrian, Kriesi should be able to find out more about Germany’s strict GDPR rules. (Probably similar to Austria anyway). Also: I’d like to add that I generally don’t like it when people ‘blackmail’ companies/developers by saying “if you don’t fix this, I will buy something else”. The world isn’t always the way we want it to be….
However, with GDPR issues like this, webdesigners like me need to be very very careful as otherwise we’d be opening ourselves to potential indemnity demands in the future… and I simply can’t afford to do that. Thanks again!
December 22, 2020 at 7:19 pm in reply to: WMPL not working for headline with full-width slideshow #1269381Hi Ismael,
I had some other problems with WPML that definitely didn’t have anything to do with Enfold, so contacted the WPML support today. Which also fixed the problem here in this thread.
The culprit was Gutenberg. And I think this is important info for a lot of websites done with Enfold:
When you create the first wordpress page for a website, Gutenberg is active. When switching to the Avia builder, Gutenberg disappears, BUT(!) there’s still some invisible code from Gutenberg on the page.
So, to keep design elements and structure the same for the next page, I duplicated that first page. And again for the next page,…
The result is: That Gutenberg code is now sitting inside every page. And WMPL really doesn’t like that at all!Solution was:
– install the “Classic Editor” WordPress plugin
– get the problematic page’s post ID (hover over it & browser will display the page-id)
– in the SQL database, go to the wp_posts table and search for the post_id
– on the post_content col, remove all tags and save
– on WP, do a small modification on the original post and save
– update the translationThat fixed a lot of the issues, including the missing slider header translation. Maybe worthwhie pointing this out in your manual / the Enfold “WPML Wokflow” page.
December 21, 2020 at 2:22 pm in reply to: WMPL not working for headline with full-width slideshow #1269020Hi Ismael,
I haven’t tried removing/adding from scratch. But that would be more work than just translating it manually.
How does the WMPL workflow work? I seem to have two options here:
1) Duplicate page via WMPL translation management, followed by manual override to fix the slider headline
2) Duplicate page without WMPL translation management. Is there a difference between these two approaches? Would I run into potential problems if I use option 1?
(For example: Can I go back to using the WMPL translation manager after I’ve manually changed a page that was initially created within the translation manager?)Thank you!
Thanks Ismael,
Yes – that’s the css code I used. Strangely, though: on a narrow (iphone-width) browser window on my computer, the headline and copy on the home page looked fine. But on an actual iPhone, the copy was smaller than the headline.
Would be interested to know why this could be?(Problem solved, though, by following your advice. Using a full-page slider for mobile.)
November 25, 2020 at 3:26 pm in reply to: Accordion re-loading page instead of opening lightbox #1263012Hi Ismael,
No – couldn’t see any custom css code. I fixed it by saving/importing the accordion from another page and changing the images. Everything else is the same (colour section, page-ID, etc). It now works…
My custom CSS file remains unchanged. Which makes me think that it’s probably a bug, either from WordPress or the Theme.Anyway – Thanks for your help!
Hi Nikko,
thanks very much for your response. I’ve been using Enfold for several years now, but never noticed that the Google reCaptcha is built in. Is this new? Since this is a Google Service, this will need to be mentioned in the GDPR terms – correct?
I’ve activated this today, and indeed the spam has gone down a lot within ist a few hours. Only very few spam messages coming through now. Thanks very much for that!!Hi,
I’m experiencing the same thing. Lots of spam mails coming through. I appreciate you’re still looking into this, but I also wanted to point out that literally NONE of the spam mails agree to my GDPR privacy policy: they all say “I agree to the terms and conditions laid out in the Privacy Policy: false” at the bottom. (I set the theme’s GDPR settings so that anyone who posts or contacts me needs to agree to my website’s policy).
Why is that happening? Shouldn’t it be impossible to send these spam mails unless the spam bots agree to the terms & conditions? Could this maybe be a way for the Kriesi developer team to stop the spams from happening, or at least reduce them? (Something like “IF privacypolicy=false THEN don’t send mail).
@Jordan: the WP-Spamshield plugin has been closed – check out the link you mentioned above. Plugin not available. Have you got any other suggestions?(I’d prefer not to go the Contact Form 7 route). Many thanks!
Hi Ismael,
That’s really great news – and to be honest, this sort of responsiveness by the Kriesi/Enfold team is one of the reasons why I like working with Enfold so much! Thank you so much!
When you say “this might take a while”: Do you have a rough timeline? Are we talking weeks, or months? Or more like half a year? I’m not going to hold you against your answer, and I know some times might take longer than anticipated. But I’d very much appreciate if you could share your thoughts on how long this might take until we see it in Enfold.
Thank you again!
Thanks everyone for their input!
I think this new API thing is quite problematic for web designers:
I create websites for small businesses, and a lot of my clients are not very computer-literate. It’ll be hard (in some cases: impossible) to convince them to create a google account and leave their credit card details with google. They’d rather have the same (static) map picture that’s been on their website the past 20 years.
Of course, I could create an API key through my own google account – but I don’t want to send out monthly bills to dozens of websites just for their google maps usage. I understand the $200 freebie from google – but if I apply it to 40 websites, that’s only $5 free maps usage per website.I’d be interested to hear how other webdesigners will approach this:
Will you leave it to your customers to sort out their own API key? Are you planning to send them a monthly or quarterly bill? And, to the Kriesi team:
Are there any plans to update Enfold to use alternative maps such as Open Street Maps?- This reply was modified 6 years, 3 months ago by BelIblis.
June 6, 2018 at 3:01 pm in reply to: How do I enable the new GDPR features in Enfold 4.4.1 ??? #967878Problem solved. I was (and still am!) using a child theme.
When I activated the “real” theme, the privacy options finally showed up.
Then I reacticated the child theme, and it’s all good now: privacy options are now visible.Honestly – they were NOT visible until I deactivated/reactivated that child theme!!!
And I thought I was going crazy…
I’ve tried the following Easyslider CSS, which kind of works. But only for certain screen aspect ratios. (I’m using images with a with:height ratio of 3:2).
.avia-slideshow-inner { align: center; width: 90vh; height: 90vw; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; }
As soon as the ratio between viewport height & viewport width becomes “too square”, the image gets cropped, or “squared off” itself. But it’s a start…
What do you think about the above CSS? Any ideas of how to improve it?Hi Mike,
Your solution works, but it’s not what I’m looking for…
I’m using Chrome to test, with the “Window Resizer” plugin, which allows me to change browser window to the most common window sizes.Similar to your idea, I’ve used 1/5 + 3/5 + 1/5 (which would be a little small in larger screens), but even then: at smaller screen sizes, the image gets cut off and the user needs to scroll down.
I’ve seen many photographer portfolios, which are basic, yet effective and beautiful: simple slider with images ALWAYS displayed fully. No matter what screen size: iPhone, hi-res desktop screen…
Is there ANY way to achieve this with Enfold?
Maybe by placing the menu-navigation on the left? Or by targeting the main container via css?
Or by removing the footer area?
Or maybe with a plugin?Enfold’s “Fullscreen slider” does it, but then the image is too large and doesn’t have any white space around it…
Maybe the “Fullscreen Slider” with some css to add margin/padding?Thanks Ismael! Works fine!
Just for future reference, so I understand things properly: Has the Enfold code changed, so the “six units” trick is not possible anymore?Hi RIkard,
I read through the entire thread you linked to. But I don’t think the information there is related to my problem. I mean: my problem is not about image or thumbnail quality. It is about the actual layout grid:
Enfold’s default single-product page layout is:
1/3 single-product-main-image DIV — 2/3 single-product-summary DIVI would like to change this to:
1/2 single-product-main-image DIV — 1/2 single-product-summary DIVIn the past, I was able to achieve this by adding the words “six units” in front of both DIV classes. (Or, likewise “four units” and “eight units”).
But now, this doesn’t do the trick anymore.Would appreciate if you could help with this.
Thank you!Hi,
I’ve just updated to the latest Enfold version. The problem still exists…
Could you please have a look at the link I provided below?
I’d like to make the image wider, and the info-box next to it narrower. Basically: 1/2 column image and 1/2 column info-box.I’ve changed
<div class='single-product-summary'>
and<div class="single-product-summary">
to
<div class='six units single-product-summary'>
and<div class="six units single-product-summary">
I’ve also tried “three units”, “four units”, etc… but no matter what I do, it doesn’t work. The image appears far too big and stretches across the entire page…
Note:
I’m using a slightly modified woocommerce/content-single-product.php
It basically allows me to stretch the description/information/rating tabs across the full page width
The modified code is in the last two lines:/** * woocommerce_single_product_summary hook. */ do_action( 'woocommerce_single_product_summary' ); echo '<br><br><br>'; echo '</div>';
Thought I’d mention it. But since this is all happening AFTER the product image, I don’t think this is the reason why the “six units” thing doesn’t work…
Thanks a lot for your help!
Very cool – well done!!
I appreciate your interpretation of these smileys, but would prefer a more official answer from Kriesi’s team. Thanks!
Well, Kriesi’s own answer (from last year) which you just quoted, contradicts your answer:
“We will probably share the element in the future”.D’oh…. been using WordPress for a while and totally forgot about that full size thing. Somehow I thought that avia.js was resizing the logo… that’s why I kept looking in the actual theme features rather than the WP backend … :(
Thanks Yigit!
Sorry. Page is not online yet.
What do you mean with “Please make sure to insert your logo in fullsize while uploading it.”
I upload the original size png. But Enfold then starts using one of the smaller sizes automatically…Great, Thanks for the super-speedy reply ;)
Cool. Thanks!
Great idea! Thanks Rikard!
I only have a link to the old one (running Enfold 2.5.2). Would this be enough for you?
(The new one is still on localhost only). On the link I posted:
If you make the window very narrow, the sidebar will appear just above the “Sort By”. (The word “Filter” on blue background). This then allows filtering by category / price / etc…With Enfold, the sidebar gets taken away completely below a certain screensize. (Or am I missing something?)
Sorry, no login possible. Localhost setup :(
But I found the solution in the Enfold options. It’s a bit hidden in “General Layout > Dimensions”…. (I was looking in “Sidebar Settings”, so you may want to include instructions there to let users know where to find it :)
Seems like the “Content : Sidebar Ratio” only works for Boxed Layout, not for Stretched Layout.
Could it be that this is also the reason why the code I pasted above didn’t work? Thanks for letting me know – I’ll try to find a way around it with the base shop page.
Question, though: In theory, is this possible to change maybe with a future Enfold update? Or is this down to the WooCommerce implementation, i.e.: Are your hands tied on this one?
(Like I said: “in theory”… this is not a feature request as such).Unfortunately, the site is not online yet – working on a local setup via MAMP.
But the error should be easy to replicate for you:
I have no other woocommerce plugins installed, no custom css, not modified any of the files etc… so “straight out of the box” Enfold + WooCommerce.Appearance > Widgets: I added the “WooCommerce Layered Nav” widget to the sidebar.
Then I took the “Shop” page that woocommerce installs and chose a layout with sidebar. Works fine.
Then I duplicated the original “Shop” page and added a Product Grid to it. (as described in Option 1 here: http://kriesi.at/documentation/enfold/custom-woocommerce-shop-overview/)
The result: The “WooCommerce Layered Nav” does not show up. (Other sidebar elements work fine, but not the “Layered Nav” widget).August 26, 2015 at 11:05 pm in reply to: WooCommerce Product Grid with tags instead if categories? #493843Just noticed that the feature is available in Content Elements/Masonry.
Would it be difficult to transport it into Plugin Additions/Product Grid?August 26, 2015 at 1:09 pm in reply to: WooCommerce Product Grid with tags instead if categories? #493513Hi guys,
Just a gentle nudge to bring this one to your attention again ;)
It’s been a while since I last worked with Enfold & just updated to latest version and noticed the “tag-name” option for the Product Grid hasn’t been implemented yet.I know you guys are busy, and Enfold keeps getting better and better. So big Thank You for that!
Still, I think a Product Grid that allows to display by tag would be an awesome (and possibly unique) feature that would widen the Enfold audience.Would be great to see this implemented at some point.
Thank you :)
