Hi Guys,
Here’s a little nudge on this issue!
Best wishes,
Scott
Hi begrafiks,
I really appreciate the time you have spent on finding the asked for solution to this issue. I am really very grateful and, by way of thanks, please see this link to Uzes and its hinterland from a site I run. FYI, I am a frequent visitor to The First Duchy of France!
See:http://walking-holidays-france.com/6717/walking-in-uzege-and-uzes/
The reason why I am going to reflect on whether to introduce your solution [which I am sure will work] is the following: which structure best suits:
1. Important SEO objectives, and
2. The customer’s ease of navigation.Looking at issue 2 first, the Theme gives a very clear breadcrumbs idea as to where the customer is on the site. It even says, ex:
vous etes ici: https://lavitrineduvin.com/Gard/sommieres-aoc-languedoc/.And I have improved the url to both help SEO and the customer, which now reads:
Moving onto issue 1, I am convinced that my current url:
is better than
https://lavitrineduvin.com/languedoc/gard/sommieres-aoc-languedoc/
because the key focus of the search, in this case, Sommiers, is closer to the domaine name itself and so the page will be considered more relevant to he/she who is searching for Sommiers wines on search engines. In other words, my existing Posts url structure will enable me to show up more readily in SERPS/natural search listings. The BIG UNKNOWN [in my mind] is which url site structure, your suggested one or my current one, gives a better overall site structure and so will enable the WHOLE site to be ranked higher by Google.
This latter question is now my BIG ISSUE before I continue adding content.
Your opinion, and that of any SEO experts out there on the Forums, would be most welcome.
Salut et bon week-end!
Scott
Hello All!
Firstly, a big thank you to @begrafiks & Hella for their time and efforts. It is very much appreciated.
However, I think it’s time to involve Basilis & Co who have a complete overview of what’s possible in Enfold and/or WP.
I have intentionally established my territories as Posts and not Pages because when I started on WP about 5 years ago I was advised to do so because Posts loaded more quickly than Pages. Now this may have changed since with the growth of all the plug-ins for quick caching, but this is my main reason for using Posts.
Secondly, there is the benefit of having these pages appear in a Blog and so I have a meaty Blog right from the start.
Anyway, your comments on the above relevance to today’s websites would be useful.
In essence, my query is, can I establish a site with a menu/url structure as follows:my site/Mega Page/Page/Post/
If not, then I must either stick with what I curently have, which is
a. my site/Mega Page/Page/
and
b. my site//Post/
convert all my Posts into Pages. What should I do?
All the best!
Scott
Hi Begrafiks,
Thanks again for your intervention.
So I have followed your advice and input the desired custom url onto the menu as you can see from visiting the French homepage. This is the url I am looking to introduce:
https://lavitrineduvin.com/languedoc/aude/la-clape
which is listed second in the current Mega menu, rather than:which is listed first in the menu, and works, but is a url that I do not want.
I have also ensured I have created Categories for both Languedoc and Aude.
However, I get ‘page introuvable’ / can’t find the page.
I must still be missing something – any idea?
Cheers!
Scott
Hello Yigit,
I got lucky!
So it was definitly the plug-in causing the problem, because I opened a new page called TRIAL and copied the Home page template into both the French and the English version – the slider only worked on the French trial page!
I looked around the Plug-in ‘Settings’ and started to play around with them. When I de-activated the Media [languages and translations for media] the slider miraculously appeared on the English Home Page!
Hey, you should be offering me a job! :) Anyway, keep this solution in your list so you can help others in the future. It’s my free contribution to your efforts.
Bye for now!
Scott
Hi Begrafiks,
Yes, that’s it sorted. many thanks!
Just one issue remains. If ‘Sommieres’ [below] is a Post [& not a Page], is there anyway I can get it to have a url of
https:/lavitrineduvin.com/Languedoc/Gard/Sommieres
rather than:
Any suggestions?
Cheers!
Scott
Hi Yigit,
Thanks for your reply.
I have updated the Theme AND deactivated all plug-ins, but the problem remains.
Do have any other solutions?
Best wishes,
Scott
Hi,
Ca I give yoou a little nudge on this issue, please?
Thanks,
Scott
Hi Yigit,
Many thanks.
Instead of what?
Thanks,
B
Hi
Thanks, but…I have tried changing as you suggested but with no success.
Yigit seems to be the expert on this matter. Can he take a look at it, please?
Thanks,
B.
Hi Yigit,
The green accordians have returned to being red. What have I done wrong?
Please see:

Thanks!
B
Hi Yigit
Please see this at
https://www.dropbox.com/s/ygvte8qrc9wfxwa/Accordians.jpg?dl=0
I want the lines to be very fine/thin AND NOT THICK like in the image.
Over to you?
Thanks.
B
Hi Yigit,
That’s got it – many thanks!
One final alteration for now. Can you let me have the code that will add colored lines around the edges of the accordians so they show up more clearly on the page? In other words, red lines round the red accordians and green around the green?
Thanks!
B
Hi
“…edit your element to give it a custom CSS class and then change your code to following one…”By ‘element’ do you mean the Code Block box or the Accordian box? I have given the CSS class a name [Toggler] and input the code you gave me into the Code Block. Nothing happens to the Accordian …
Please see:

B

Hi Guys
Just a little nudge re this issue.
Thanks!
B
Hi Elliott,
Thanks for the info. I have done as you said but without the desired change happening.
See https://lavitrineduvin.com/en/2015/11/20/clairette-du-languedoc/
I also tried putting the code block into the accordion block itself, but still no change. What else is required?Site codes below.
Thanks!

Hello Rickard,
Thanks for your input.
I have added a photo and think that is better to keep the icon lists separate and without a photo behind. However, there is a big space between the icon lists and the photo. How do I erase/reduce it?
Thanks!
B.
Hi,
Well, please see this page. After some time, I am still struggling to layout a good template page.
https://lavitrineduvin.com/en/2015/10/09/sommieres/
I am not sure how to make the top ‘grapes’ photo [wine characteristics] fill the rest of the page below. Is it possible to do so? I don’t really want horizontal sections, some with, some without photo backgrounds.
Is there somewhere I can see what other users have done and then see the layout behind?
Cheers!
B
Hi Yigit,
Please try writing something in one of the progress bars and save it. When you refresh the page, the text disappears and is no longer in the progress bar field.
Try writing in one for yourself to see the problem.
Best wishes,
B,
Thanks a lot Yigit. That’s done it!
Cheers!
B.
Hi Yigit,
Sorry – I managed to do this myself!
Best wishes,
B.

https://lavitrineduvin.com/en/And when you select French, it becomes:
https://lavitrineduvin.com/fr/home-2/but I want it to be only:

Hi
Log-in details below.
Yes, I have Polylang and a Woo integration plug in installed. However, the problem existed before I installed them.
Now it’s a bi-lingual site, I don’t know how it works with the Homepage as I have a French and an English one!
Thanks !
B.
Hi,
I had already done that :)
However, the url for the page I have opted to be the home page is:
https://lavitrineduvin.com/en/home/
but I want it to be:
https://lavitrineduvin.com/en/
How?
Thanks!
B.
Hi Yigit,
Okay, I have done that and will test it out!
Different question: how do I replace the default Theme Homepage with my own one?
Thanks,
B.
