Hi, seems to work stable now! Can close it! Thanks again!!
Hi Nikko, very sorry for the late response, hadn’t checked the forum in a while. I think this seems to have solved it (at least for now the sites display correctly!
Thanks so much for your help, all of you!Hi Yigit,
the hosting provider (strato) couldn’t really help. They suggested the same tips (plugin deactivation, cache clearing, different browser) and said they were no programmers. Bummer, problem seems kinda stuck now. It’s really a shame since your advanced layout editor is so awesome as long as it works.
If you get any additional idea, please let me know, would be really happy about any suggestion.Thanks!
Andy
Done, thanks! Not too sure whether they can do/say anything just given that information but maybe they can. Will let you know.
Would PhP version make a different at all in this?Thanks again for all your help!
Best, Andy
…I take that back, clearing the cache doesn’t always seem to work, this page is broken to edit on my side and remains broken when clearing the cache:

Hi Yigit,
thank you so much for your effort! It seems really tricky.
I did flush my browser cache and the site loaded fine – that being said, it *sometimes* loads fine without doing anything, as well. Now I did a small edit and it didn’t load anymore. When flushing browser cache (and “hosted app data” in Chrome) again, it loaded fine again.
So could be it really is related to resetting the cache? Any chance this is helpful?In any case seems to be a workaround for me, for now.
Thanks again!
Andy
Hi Nikko,
this is awesome, thanks so much for your help. I renamed the plugin folder and your link still does not work.
I added FTP access below. Totally fine to disable plugins for a while if you want to debug, that’s really awesome!Best, Andy
Hi Yigit,
sure, I checked that. I also don’t add any custom code at all, no mods to my wordpress or anything..
It’s really weird, sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t. For the most part, on some pages with a bit more content, it doesn’t work at all.
Probably hard to solve but it’s getting much harder to maintain the site if the editor doesn’t work on these pages.Except that, I do love your templates. Is there any newer template that uses a different editor that I could try or do all Kriesi templates use the same advanced layout editor?
Thanks so much for your hardwork.
Best, Andy
@digithrive, thanks for your help!
I did rename the plugin folder and interestingly, one blog post that had failed before was editable again. However, after editing it a bit, the same problem reappeared (plugin folder was still renamed). Other pages had the spinning issue, as well. So I can confirm that it may have something to do with other plugins but still can appear (and does so on my side) without any active plugins.
I can only edit affected pages with the “debug mode” direct edit field enabled (http://kriesi.at/documentation/enfold/enable-advanced-layout-builder-debug/). That works in practice but is a bit tiring.Hi Yigit,
thanks so much for trying to fix this and sorry for the late response.
Unfortunately the update did not fix it – I manually replaced the whole enfold folder and it still acts the same way (spinning wheel of death :)Any other ideas?
Best, Andy
VGHi Ismael,
sure I could do that but I had thought that’s not the point of this, is it?
I mean since it works perfectly fine on other pages and just fails for the two I’m sure it must be some content. Could be a weird character or could be that it’s just too complex content for your editor. Still think this is clearly a bug and that’s why I reported it.
I have ways of getting over this by manually editing the page. This sucks and I’ll probably switch to another template soon if I have to do this all the time. But it’s not that I cannot survive with the bug. Just thought you guys might be interested in improving the product.
Feel a bit sorry for the time we all invested in this but I guess that’s life.Best, Andy
@royaltask, sure, this may well be but still frustrating that it kills the whole editor. I can edit other pages well so it must be something in the content. That’s why I reported it so @kriesi guys have the chance to fix it (and because it’s a bit annoying).
@gailfrancombe, sorry to hear, let me know if you find a solution! Good to hear I’m not alone.Hi Ismael,
thanks! I tried in Chrome, Safari and Firefox. No luck.
Best, Andy
Already tried and just tried again. Doesn’t work.
Hi there,
it’s this one:
and this one:
Any clue? They used to work before (that’s how I built them).
Best, Andy
Hi Ismael,
thanks for your great help!
So I did upgrade to PHP 5.6 and set the limit to 256 (which the host allows: https://strato.de/blog/mehr-ressourcen-strato-verdoppelt-php-memory-limit/). Unfortunately it didn’t help. Any other ideas?Thanks so much!
Best, Andy
Hi Ismael,
I didn’t move to a different server. Also, as said the editor works fine on other pages – it’s just broken on these two larger ones (where it worked great before). I’m not sure if it’s a general problem but will ask the provider to enable this extension you mentioned.
Finally, here’s the .htaccess paste, it’s a one-liner made by the hosting provider:

Hi there, thanks,
unfortunately same behavior.
Now the console says:
Failed to load resource: net::ERR_CONTENT_DECODING_FAILED
(there also is a warning that was there before, as well:)
util.js:210 Google Maps API warning: NoApiKeys https://developers.google.com/maps/documentation/javascript/error-messages#no-api-keys
iB.j @ util.js:210Yes:
http://pastebin.com/AZeB8xKqDoes that ring any bells? :)
Also cleared cookies, browser cache, etc. Tried in 2 browsers.
Yes, just updated everything to make sure (Enfold, WordPress, all plugins – although these are deactivated now, anyways).
Hi there, thanks for your nice comments & sorry for the late reply. Tried what you said (disabling all plugins and clearing browser cache but it still doesn’t work, keeps spinning forever. I really can’t edit my pages this way (only happens in 2 pages on the site).
I added my login credentials below if you’d like to see for yourself?
Thanks so much for your help!
Hi, no, I still cannot click on the text to edit it.
If I do, the avia layout builder says “Error fetching content – please reload the page and try again”.Shortcode (as your colleagues suggested) below the layout builder can be found under this URL: http://pastebin.com/32nKqz65

Hi Ismael,
thanks for your great help – now it worked!
I added the affected code to the private content box below – does that work for you?
Thanks so much, best, Andy
Hi there,
I did add the code snippet to the bottom of the file functions.php in /wp/wp-content/themes/enfold.
Can you confirm this is the right location? In the link you gave me, the location where to put the code snippet is poorly documented.
Now this did not change anything at all, can’t see no shortcodes.Finally, I updated to WP 4.6.1 (not 3.6.1) and am running Enfold 3.6.1 (not 3.8). When I try to update Enfold, it says I am running the current-most version although my themeforrest credentials look good and could always update before.
This is all really a little cloudy for me and could really need some more specific help here.
Also entered both FTP and WP admin credentials in comments above.Thanks a lot, best, Andy
Okay, I added the lines
//set builder mode to debug
add_action(‘avia_builder_mode’, “builder_set_debug”);
function builder_set_debug()
{
return “debug”;
}to the end of the functions.php file located in /wp/wp-content/themes/enfold folder.
Was that right?
Don’t see any change in the Layout builder myself..Best, andy
Hi there, it seems I could at least fix the issue of our website being down.
But no clue how to solve the issue in enfold.. -
