Thanks Nick,
I added my site to Webmaster tools and verified it.
For some reason I can’t understand, I am not able to generate the sitemap. When I click on Yoast within the site and click on “You can find your XML Sitemap here: XML Sitemap”, it reports me a 404 – Page Not Found error message.
The Url Yoast generates for the sitemap is the following: http://vacationrentalsecrets.com/sitemap_index.xml
when I add the /sitemap_index.xml to Webmaster tool and click on “test” Google returns the same 404 Error.
Any idea on how to solve this?
Thanks
Antonio
I deactivated all the plugins and now the lightbox works again. So I’ll have to check which plugin causes the issue.
As for the strange var you saw on the png.file, now that I deactivated every plugin I ran a ‘broken links checker’ tool with a site called Attracta and it reported that my site has some staggering 47 broken links. The strange thing is that it seems like every page has a variable appended to the link and strangely every page has the name of the site repeated at the end of the link (Vacationrentalsecrets).
Do you have any clue what might cause this?
Here is the list of the errors reported (maybe is similar to the var appended to the png. file?) – every page has the weird /?s= variable to which seems to correspond the name of the site “Vacationrentalsecrets” on each error page:

HI again,
I have a good update. After a bit of work I was able to get the map back and it now shows correctly. Seems like Google rolled out a new map with different colors? Anyway it shows up.
For some reason, after deactivating all the plugins, all the map data within the map widget were erased too, so I had to recreate the widget and the latitude and longitude.
Hi Devin,
I regret to say that there is no xmlns:fb line inside my header.php file… I checked everywhere and there is none.
Also, I deactivated all the plugins and the maps disappear. I went to check in the backend and saw that it fails to pick up the correct map widget in the widget area, where it says “displayed everywhere” within the drop down menu. When I scroll it I can see the sidebar widget I called “map”, I can select it, but when I hit save the page returns me always the “dispalyed everywhere” instead of “map” and I can’t see any map.
I recall this was an issue happening already before in a previous post at a few other users including me and if I am not wrong, one of you told me to insert some custom css in the quick css panel, which I did, and solved the problem. The custom css is probably still there, within the quick css panel, yet the map is no longer there.
Unfortunately now, I have so many different lines of code you gave me inside the quick css that I have no idea which one regulates what…
What should I do?
Thanks,
Antonio
PS: Also, when deactivating the plugins I saw there is a drop-in which I have no idea what that is and it cannot be deactivated? Is that part of Enfold installation?
Here is what it says on the plugin page:
Drop-ins are advanced plugins in the wp-content directory that replace WordPress functionality when present.
Plugin Description
install.php Custom install script.
That is very strange, Peter.
When I check the images url I see they are correct, ending with .png without the php var. So I don’t know where to find the var that causes the lightbox not to work.
How can I find out what causes the issue?
Regards,
Antonio
Hi Peter,
no I haven’t. How do you do that? HOw do you generate the sitemap xml file and submit it to google?
Thank you!
Antonio
Hi, I did that too and saw no results at all.
My lightboxes galleries don’t work anymore anywhere.
Just have a look at the homepage as an example (you need to scroll down until you see the ‘showcase your home’ section):
Antonio
Hi Nick,
I just saw your reply and placed your CSS in the quick CSS, thanks! As soon as I am adding a new blogpost, I will write back here in case the issue is coming up again.
Long ago I turned to Elance to find reputable freelance developers, but despite the awesome reviews some of the top ones had and the super money they charged, I got burned more than once, hence I am bit frustrated and don’t have that much time anymore to spend in looking for a reliable developer. So I am forced to do everything myself (which I don’t love because I’d rather spend time doing other things) and I am not tech savvy, so you can kind of imagine how I usually feel everytime I have to put my hands on the site.
You did a great job when you worked around a couple of issues on my site, however your fix were all gone once the new update of Enfold was released. So I was back to the beginning.
Also, you told me you noticed that my site is not indexed at all, so whatever appealing the site is, it’s kind of useless if nobody finds it! And I am running around in circles to try and understand how to rank it… working with Yoast and SeoPressor plugins, they seemed to give me great feedback, yet I can’t find my blogposts or pages anywhere in Google… :-(
Antonio
The code doesn’t seem to work either, Devin…
I may have to either give up or look for someone that can check whether my site has some cracks or not. But the thing is I don’t know anyone reliable who can take a look at the site and diagnose the problem…
Thanks anyway.
Antonio
Hi Ismael, it took me a bit to find a good example.
Here is a screenshot of what happens with the special heading:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/tmhvkur00zdrqgq/special%20heading%20cut%20off.png
I inserted an initial header using the regular H1 tab within the visual editor, then I inserted the same text used in the header to reproduce the same H1 header using the “special heading” button in the wand tool option.
As I select the blog right sidebar, you can see what the issue is: the special heading apparently does not “detect” the sidebar and disappear partly behind it rather than readjusting to the new space available:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/tmhvkur00zdrqgq/special%20heading%20cut%20off.png
How can it be fixed?
Thanks for the great help.
Thanks anyway Devin :-)
Appreciate.
Hi Ismael,
don’t know what to do…it doesn’t work. Even the procedure to enable ALE on posts doesn’t work. I followed Dude’s instructions as you suggested, then replaced the php file with Nick’s code, as in his last message within the post, yet nothing.
When I go into options inside the blogpost the Avia Builder Layout is already enabled, but nothing shows on the blog page. If I untick, then re-tick the box to enable Avia Builder in the option, the Avia builder actually appears below the normal blogpost box, not instead of it, and it shows the throttle spinning…
So the result is that I keep having my blogpost in the normal mode with whatever I wrote in it and below it I see an unsuable Avia Builder…
I’d rather not use the Insert Shortcode Wand because after I’ve inserted one component and worked on it, if I want to make changes later on or correct mistakes I cannot see anything in the shortcode that the Wand inserted, so it becomes kind of useless, which is why I prefer using the Avia builder Layout.
Thanks for the support.
When Nick worked on my site a while ago he was able to make the Avia Builder Layout tab appear beside the normal mode, so I could choose which one to use and work on the blogpost as if I were creating a page. After I updated the theme the hack obviously disappeared.
Hi again,
I removed the offerchat javascript as per your suggestion, yet, the lightbox doesn’t work anyway. What should I do?
Hi Devin,
thanks for the heads up! I’ll look into it and try delete it and see if that restores the functionality.
Regards,
Antonio
Hi Ismael,
under the Screen Options I don’t have any Avia Layout Builder to enable, the Discussions is already enabled. There is only a general “Layout” option which is already enabled as well as all the other options.
What should I do?
Do you want me to send you my credentials privately?
Yes, Ismael, it fixed the issue. Now the headers in the iconbox are back. Thanks.
Also the unfillable forms have been fixed.
Before the latest upgrade, Nick enabled the Avia editor also for the blogpost in my backend, but now it’s gone. How do I get it back? Also, it was nice but had a problem with the fact that when you write a blogpost using the Aviaeditor for some reasons comments are not enabled. Nick said it was a known issue, is it solved?
Thanks and have a great sunday.
Antonio
Hi Ismael,
it worked, thanks and I haven’t done anything to CSS files, since I am not a techy and don’t know what to do.
I haven’t touched the site in a few weeks, yet recently I realized that on the homepage the heading of the Icon boxes disappeared completely!
See for yourself:
in the part where it says:”In case you need help” you see 3 icon boxes, which titles were respectively “Any Questions?,”Need Support?”,”How About a Chat?”.
In the backend they are all still there, yet in the frontend they simply don’t show up? How come they disappear when I haven’t done anything to the site?
I just found out about the latest release of 2nd July and updated the theme a minute ago. No changes though.
Also, one more curious thing I noticed is that prior to that sudden disappearance, also the headers of all the sections within the homepage looked bigger, as i wanted them to be. Then suddenly they turned smaller and now I had to go in the backend and turn them from h2 to h1, with the subsequent result of having all the headers in Capital letters and in black colours, whereas before they were as I wanted them to be, ie only inital capitals and grey in color. How come? Again, I haven’t touched the site in a few weeks, so the changes occurred without any work on it on my side…
Appreciate your help.
Thanks.

June 18, 2013 at 8:32 pm in reply to: Blog: Dropcap in blogpost not shoing up in general blog page #124216HI Nick,
I emailed you all the credentials. Hope that solves the problem with the link pointing to the wrong place and the wrong page showing all the articles regardless of the excerpts and read more link command only.
Honestly, I don’t understand the video you sent me, it’s too techy for me and seems too complicated stuff…I don’t know what custom post types are nor what would I need them for, and I don’t understand your explanation above, so I may have to give up if I can’t solve this issue and simply revert back to the “old” Blog link which goes back to my homepage but at least if you click back on the blog you have the right page showing up.

June 17, 2013 at 8:42 am in reply to: Blog: Dropcap in blogpost not shoing up in general blog page #124214Hi Nick,
thanks for the fix which now shows the image centered!
I insert images into the post using the “add media” button so I can add as many as I want using a standard format blogpost. Then I chose the one I want as featured image and insert that as well.
I see that all my images inserted within the justified paragraphs are justified too. How do I avoid inserting images justified? Is the fact that they are justified a big problem?
Thanks for solving the image positon issue.
How about the link to the main blog homepage (in the site now the link is ‘Blog2’) still bringing back to a page showing the entire articles in a row rather than just the excerpts with the read more link although that is selected correctly in the backend of the Blog2 page?
Thanks,
Antonio
June 16, 2013 at 9:48 pm in reply to: Blog: Dropcap in blogpost not shoing up in general blog page #124212Hi Nick,
here is the link to the dummy blog i just created (same exact options as for the regular blog):
http://vacationrentalsecrets.com/blog2/
I did follow all of your tips in each screenshot and apart from the Theme Options within Enfold for the blog which were not set to “Blog” initially and this only caused the “Blog – Latest News” link to go to my hompeage instread of the Blog homepgae, all the others where exactly already set as you later suggested and the page looked exactly as I wanted it to be.
When I inserted the css inside the quick css field and saved it, the image gets to the left instead of being centered as it was correctly before. If I don’t insert anything in the quick css field, the image is correctly placed in the center.
If I do not select “Blog” inside the Theme Options and leave it as is, the page looks perfect (without your css) but the link is still to the website homepage. If I do select “Blog”, then the image is no longer centered and the problem with the blog not showing the excerpts anymore but the entire articles in one single page is recurring.
I filmed everything on my end here. You can watch it at the following link:
Hope that helps…
Thanks.

June 16, 2013 at 6:07 am in reply to: Blog: Dropcap in blogpost not shoing up in general blog page #124210Hi Nick,
the css doesn’t work. The image is still on the left as it was. Besides, the page keeps showing the entire articles instead of the excerpts as it was before. How do I fix that?
As I said, I am going to revert to the ‘old’ view (the one with the incorrect link), because at least it shows the page exactly as it should be.
If there is a further fix you can provide me with I’ll wait for that, then try it out.
Thanks!
Antonio
June 15, 2013 at 10:43 pm in reply to: Blog: Dropcap in blogpost not shoing up in general blog page #124208Hi Nick,
yes, it does. It is set as you said, however when you looked a few minutes ago, you may have probably seen the “old” version, which I reset as I wrote, because I didn’t want the wrong pageview to appear.
So now I will set it again as it should be, following your specifications and will leave it like this for the next 8 hours, hoping you’ll get access to it again before and can find out how to fix the issue.
I am in Europe at the moment, so will look at the site again in the morning and I guess you are probably somewhere else, so you may hopefully get back to me with a solution by tomorrow (8 hrs from now) when I’ll have to revert to the “official” view, which is the one with the blog link not working.
Thanks!
June 15, 2013 at 9:40 pm in reply to: Blog: Dropcap in blogpost not shoing up in general blog page #124206Hi Nick,
it was the first one you mentioned which was not set correctly! In the Enfold > Theme Options I had not selected any page in the Blog section. Now that I set “Blog” each first image in each post appearing on the main blog page is no longer centered, as it was nicely before with the nice author circular thumbnail appearing below. Now the image is on the left. How do I make them centered again all of them?
Besides, there is again something that I don’t seem to understand: if I select the Blog page in the Enfold > Theme Options as per your screenshots, now the page shows again not just the list of blogposts with the excerpt as it was before (which is exactly what I wanted). It shows each article complete, one after the other, and without any possibility to add comments. I just simply want it to revert to the way it was before, so I guess I will “unselect” the Blog page in the Enfold > Theme Options, because I am currently getting a few visitors to the site and I don’t want to mess up too much!
I’ll wait for your advice on how to fix the image and excerpts displaying as you will see them now that I will again “deselect” the Blog page option, rather than on the left (the image) and the full articles on such page.
Thanks for your awesome help!
Antonio
June 15, 2013 at 7:11 pm in reply to: Blog: Dropcap in blogpost not shoing up in general blog page #124204Hey Nick,
your tip on the size of my images in the blog is absolutely outstanding! THANK YOU SO MUCH!
It looks way better now! If I were to make the images slightly bigger would it be possible? Should I just change the max width say to 450px?
For the “Blog-Latest News” how do I make it to redirect to the blog main page instead of my site’s homepage? It’s something I should definitely change. If someone wants to get back to the general blog while reading a single post and they click on the “Blog-Latest News” they’ll get to the homepage instead of the main Blog page.
Any clue?
Awesome help, thank you so much!

June 13, 2013 at 6:56 pm in reply to: Blog: Dropcap in blogpost not shoing up in general blog page #124202Hey Dude,
when you say:
and replace “Blog – Latest News” with your custom text.
where do I find “Blog – Latest News”? I can’t find it in the index.php file.
Also, I’ve replaced the lines you said but I still see the “Blog – Latest News” in each blogpost, so I don’t know how to change that.
Most importantly, when I click on to “Blog – Latest News” i keep getting redirected to the site’s homepage, whereas I want it to redirect to the main Blog page. How do I do that?
June 13, 2013 at 7:25 am in reply to: Blog: Dropcap in blogpost not shoing up in general blog page #124201Thanks Dude,
I was able to fix the Dropcap last night by manually choosing the excerpt in the post back end, so that’s why it looked fine to you ;-)
I copy/pasted the html part of the excerpt I wanted to show, so it did ok.
I’ll follow your other tips!
Again, thank you.
Antonio
Hi Devin,
I don’t understand what you wrote in my previous post…up 2 people…
There is a truncated grey sentence: Edit by Devin….
What does it mean? Is there already a possibility to duplicate pages/posts? I don’t see anything in the upper right hand side of the editor…
[Nick: Yes. You can save a page/post/cpt and then open
a new page or post or custom post type and load up the
save and you got a duplicate of the original.
See: http://www.clipular.com/c?7812119=5Qttc8cQnhD8sGgIEuWOb6-Xd5I&f=.png
]Thanks.

June 11, 2013 at 6:10 pm in reply to: Blog: Dropcap in blogpost not shoing up in general blog page #124199Also, when I click on the ‘General’ link of the “Categories” in the sidebar, it opens up all the blogposts in that category in a single page, with the entire articles and without the possibility to leave any comment! I want the total opposite, that is the page to show only the excerpts of each article with the “read more” link. How do I do that?
You can view the behavior here:
Hey there,
I don’t know if it’s been suggested already, but I think it would be pretty useful to add the possibility to duplicate pages as they are in the backend.
It’s a great option when you have to create a new page from scratch using the same exact features of a page/post you previously created, such as a precompiled form for example.
I use it to send customized surveys to clients during my individual consulting and since I have a survey of around 60 questions, it would be great to be able to duplicate the entire page as is, rename it, and customize questions or background images accordingly.
I saw the “duplicate” feature virtually everywhere in each WP theme but in Enfold.
;-)
Keep up the great work, I love this theme!
Edit by Devin: You can save the Advanced Layout Editor Templates in the upper
right hand corner of the editor by clicking on "Templates"June 7, 2013 at 5:19 pm in reply to: URGENT! FAQ suddenly disappered from site! Is there a way to retrieve them? #123584Thank you formateins!
I found a revision that still had everything, but curiously enough if I restore that version it still shows up an empty accordion…
So now I am trying to recreate the entire accordion with a copy/paste of all the Q&As from the WP revision that still has that and hope that I can restore the page this way.
A bit time consuming but at least hopefully I haven’t lost a whole day’s work.
Where do you insert the code you gave me?
Thanks.
Antonio
