H,
for sharing my posts on Pinterest without connecting to Pinterest due to GDPR, I created a Pinterest collage, loaded the image into the post, switched from visual to text view and edited the image code like this
<div style ="display:none;"><img src="EXAMPLE.JPG" alt="EXAMPLE TEXT FOR PINTEREST"></div>
This code should hide my image from my post (it does indeed), but still be visible for Pinterest sharing. But it is not, only my post featured image and the post title appear when I click the Enfold Pinterest share icon.
Can you explain what is happening here? Is this an Enfold issue or do I have to modify the a/m display none code?
Really do hope you can help, since, I think, it is a nice feature without plugin etc. Thank you in advance.
Kind regards,
SophieAugust 8, 2018 at 9:49 am #994771Hey Sophie,
I’m not sure I understand the problem, you are adding display:none and you expect it to not show in your posts but be visible in other places? Where do you expect it to be showing? Just to clarify, display:none means that it won’t be visible anywhere, there is no condition at all in that code.

RikardAugust 8, 2018 at 10:18 am #994793Hey Rikard,
that’s what I thought too, but numerous of tutorials show that this code works. For your better understanding, I put some links in the private box. Maybe these explain the issue more precise.
Thank you so much for your help in advance.

SophieAugust 9, 2018 at 4:24 am #995220Hi Sophie,
Thanks for that, so you don’t want the image to show up on your actual blog, but you want them to show up when sharing to Pinterest? Is that not working? If so, where can we see the result?

RikardAugust 9, 2018 at 5:28 pm #995624Hi Rikard,
yes, that’s exactly what I want to achieve :-) . Please kindly find the link to my post where I added the code at the end of the post, visible in text view only.
Really do hope you can help.

SophieAugust 9, 2018 at 9:56 pm #995746Hi,
Unfortunately, it would require quite some time and customization of the theme to achieve this, so I am sorry to tell you that this is not covered by our support. However, if it’s really important for you to get this done, you can always hire a freelancer to do the job for you :)

BasilisAugust 10, 2018 at 11:18 am #995906Hi,
thank you for the update. Does that mean that this is an Enfold issue? Because for everyone who commented in the link (please see private content box) it seems to work perfectly, but obviously not for me with Enfold?
Thank you for your help in advance.

Yes it seems that it is something related to the theme that is why it is not working as should…

BasilisAugust 17, 2018 at 1:15 pm #998418Hi,
thank you for the update. Is there a way to make Enfold running properly with Pinterest share? Pinterest is (among others) the most important advertising instrument and I need to run it perfectly on my Enfold website.
Thank you for your kind help in advance.

SophieAugust 18, 2018 at 7:27 pm #998747Hi Sophie,
Can you give us temporary admin access to your website in the private content box below, so that we can have a closer look?
Are you trying this in the Default editor?

VictoriaAugust 19, 2018 at 6:42 pm #999017Hi Victoria,
yes sure, please kindly find the login details in the private content box. There you will find the corresponding link to the page in question as well.
I added the code in the text editor as suggested. The image should not be visible in visual editor anymore. That’s working fine. But when clicking on the Pinterest share button, my collage does not appear as a pinning option.
Thank you for all your efforts.
Have a great day!

SophieAugust 25, 2018 at 5:33 am #1001470Hi,
Sorry for the delay, I tried to troubleshoot the issue. The shortcode of the page you mentioned is messed up mostly due to custom code that is added(screenshot attached). Please delete all elements on the page and re-create the page. Do not add your custom code with HTML tags in the text editor instead please try adding it in code block element. If you still have any issue let us know.

VinayAugust 25, 2018 at 7:50 pm #1001745Hi Vinay,
thank you for all your efforts in this issue. Unfortunately I cannot assign the post layout shown up in your screenshot to mine :-( . I am using Standard Editor, not the Enfold Layout Builder, please kindly see screenshot in private content box.
So I am a little confused now. Shouldn’t it work that way as well?
Thank you again for all your kind help.

SophieAugust 27, 2018 at 12:01 pm #1002226Hi,
If a shortcode is broken it does not render properly on the front end even if the page displays correctly in the backend.
Please enable debug mode and run the shortcode parser.

VinayAugust 28, 2018 at 8:09 pm #1002814Hi Vinay,
thank you for the update.
I already had enabled the debug mode in the past. Please note for my posts I do not use the ALB, only for some pages, so this is why there is no new field under the Advanced Layout Builder with the live output of the element in my posts. But I have a parser window with a select box. And why is this all supposed to have an impact on the Pinterest code?
Please kindly advise. Thank you for your help.

SophieAugust 30, 2018 at 2:33 pm #1003609Hi,
Adding an invisible image is not going to work because Pinterest relies on the Open Graph tag. This is the current og:image tag.
Is that the image that you see when you share the post on Pinterest? The post’s featured image is usually used as the og:image value.

August 30, 2018 at 2:40 pm #1003616Hi Ismael,
thank you for the update. First, can you please remove my link/URL in your a/m post? Thank you. Yes that is the image, but what I want to see are my pinterest collages (example collage please see private content box).
It’s spooky, because all the commentators in the “how to”-post are saying it is working :-( .
Thank you for your help in advance.

SophieSeptember 1, 2018 at 1:07 am #1004245Hi,
It might have to do something with the way pinterest works, please check if there are any plugins available to achieve this.
Try to follow steps provided in other websites may be you are missing a step here due to which it is not working for you.

VinaySeptember 1, 2018 at 7:54 pm #1004457Hi Vinay,
thank you for the links. I will have a closer look, maybe they can be of help for me. Due to the GDPR it is not allowed using Pinterest Share plugin or similar, that is connecting to Pinterest.
Thank you again. You can close this topic.
Wish for you a great day!
