Hi, 2 of my sites have broken today, both using the enfold theme on wpengine.
I have had discussions with the support team but all points to issues in the theme.
Site 1 I updated the theme and the whole site went down
Site 2 I updated the theme on the staging site and when pushed to live, it fell.
Here is what wpengine reported back:
[Tue Jul 31 12:51:12.418612 2018] [:error] [pid 874] [client 192.171.117.234:17553] PHP Fatal error: Cannot redeclare av_countdown_events_fallback() (previously declared in /nas/content/live/domain/wp-content/themes/enfold/config-templatebuilder/avia-shortcodes/events_countdown/events_countdown.php:16) in /nas/content/live/domain/wp-content/themes/enfold/config-templatebuilder/avia-shortcodes/events_countdown.php on line 12, referer: https://domainname.com/wp-admin/themes.php
It appears there may be an issue within the theme that is not compatible with the live environment.
Any ideas?
thanks
Hey dannhanks,
Did you upload the theme files via ftp? If yes please rename the old theme folder to enfold_bak, then upload the unzipped theme files to wp-content/themes/enfold/. The error you posted indicates some leftovers (old files) still exist in the theme folder and this can break the theme. If the update works you can delete the enfold_bak folder via ftp.
Best regards,
Dude
Hi, it happened when I upgraded on the staging server and pushed to the live server – I guess it just kept hold of those old files when pushing.
I manually updated as per your suggestion and it worked.
thanks for the tip Dude!
