Hey Kriesi team.
The explicit GDPR marketing consent / opt-in now provided and required by Mailchimp is still missing and new subscribers will appear as if they haven’t opted in (i.e. won’t receive any emails.
I’m linking one of my client’s mailchimp-signup-forms in the private section, all the content visible there is generated by mailchimp and set in the mailchimp back-end. Users have to explicitly check the E-Mail checkbox to receive emails. In theory, there could also be other checkboxes, like postal mailings etc.
Only if the box is checked, the Mailchimp system will register the explicit GDPR consent and emails can be sent out according to GDPR provisions.
FYI, this is NOT the same as the Privacy Policy checkboxes added in v4.4 (see e.g. https://kriesi.at/support/topic/dsgvo-gdpr/) – which are a nice addition, but don’t solve the issue :-/
Please advise?! The mailchimp sign-up form does come with the note to let you know if we want to see additional functions…
June 12, 2018 at 12:26 am #971449I will add to this. The current Mail Chimp element in Enfold is for embedded forms. The Mail Chimp embedded forms are not GDPR compliant. Only the Modal Pop Up forms are. They then collect the needed data.
The code block does not work with the Modal Pop Up code that is GDPR compliant. Here is the text from the MailChimp site:
Before You Start
Here are some things to know before you begin this process.Enabling GDPR fields on your signup forms does not make you compliant. It’s the first step of the process. To collect consent from new and existing contacts, you’ll set up your forms, create a segment, and send a consent campaign.
GDPR forms are not compatible with embedded forms or MailChimp Subscribe.
GDPR forms are only compatible with certain styles of pop-up forms.
I am not code savvy so adding code to the site is not an option for me.
Please up date either the code block or Mail Chimp element.
Thank you,

BasilisDecember 16, 2018 at 4:04 pm #1045933HI Enfold team – is there any news with regard to updating the Mailchimp implementation to be GDPR compliant? Maybe a plan to include this into one of the next versions? (I know you’ve all had your hands full with the Gutenberg update)
December 16, 2018 at 4:43 pm #1045964Hi fkmediaworks,
Don’t have an answer to this question yet. Maybe in the future.

VictoriaDecember 16, 2018 at 5:24 pm #1045979Hi Victoria,
that’s too bad, seeing that GDPR has been EU law for almost 7 months now and the existing Mailchimp feature is unusable.
From a development point of view, this shouldn’t be such a major task to begin with, so maybe someone can take a closer look and prioritise? Otherwise, I’ll have to stick with using iframes to load the native Mailchimp form to keep my clients on the safe side – or find a Mailchimp plugin that already does the job (rendering Enfold even more obsolete than the Gutenberg editor might do for a lot of people out there *sigh*).December 17, 2018 at 3:58 pm #1046347Hi fkmediaworks,
Thank you for letting us know how you feel.
I forwarded your concern to Kriesi.
Best regards,
Victoria -
