    Hi,
Possibly a daft question, when using the contact form element on a site that is using an SSL certificate what actually happens when the ‘submit’ button is pressed? I assume that when pressed the data gets processed by the server and sent off as an email, but in this instance the data is not encrypted anymore and is just like any normal email. Is this correct and if so are there anyways of increasing the security for the person submitting the form, such as saving directly to a database table on the website (which would then need to also email a ‘you’ve got mail’ note)?

    Hey db777,

I’m afraid that encrypting emails is way out of the scope of this forum support. You might want to research that topic a bit more or hire a freelancer to do it for you.

    Best regards,
    Victoria

All Data that goes out of your page is then under that Certificate.
But you have to differentiate between encrypted transfer and encrypted content. Only the transmission is encrypted here.
But that is why GDPR (DSGVO) wants that your site has that https.

However, if you want to receive data that contains particularly sensitive data according to Art.9 DSGVO, you must encrypt the contents. Whether there is this possibility, I do not know. I would then request such data via e-mail and encrypt it with OpenPGP.

Special category data is personal data which the GDPR says is more sensitive, and so needs more protection.

In order to lawfully process special category data, you must identify both a lawful basis under Article 6 and a separate condition for processing special category data under Article 9. These do not have to be linked.

There are ten conditions for processing special category data in the GDPR itself, but the Data Protection Bill will introduce additional conditions and safeguards.
You must determine your condition for processing special category data before you begin this processing under the GDPR, and you should document it.

    Firstly, thanks for the replies.

Victoria – My initial question was regarding how the button on the Enfold contact form works. I think that is a fair enough question in this forum. The second part was asking for a pointer as to what may or may not be possible based on the answer to the first part (i.e. extra finctionality directly or via plugins etc.) – this is as you point out outside the scope of the forum but I was just hoping for a pointer in the right direction. However, thank you for taking the time to reply.

Guenni007 – Thank you very much for your input. That is very helpful.

This thread can be closed, thanks.
