Hi, I did a theme update on my site and now I’m getting a code 500 error when I try to preview or visit my website from within my wordpress dashboard.
Do you know what the problem might be or if this can be easily fixed?
I’m running my site on a child enfold theme. Thanks.
Hey JQuin10461,
Could you try to completely remove the theme files via FTP, and then upload them again from a fresh file downloaded from your themeforest account please? http://kriesi.at/documentation/enfold/updating-your-theme-files/
Best regards,
Rikard
Hi Rikard,
I just tried doing what you suggested and am still having the same problem. Any other suggestions?
Hi,
Sorry for the inconvenience! Issue occurs on servers running PHP versions older than 5.6. You can either upgrade your PHP version to minimum 5.6 and preferably to 7.x or replace /wp-content/themes/enfold/header.php file with this one – https://www.dropbox.com/s/r389b5x4ippscyn/header.php?dl=0 to bring up backwards compatibility with older PHP versions.
If that does not help, please post FTP and WP admin logins here privately so we can look into it :)

Thank you!. I was on the phone with my hosting company at the same time I saw this response. And that seem to be the problem. I was running php 5.1. I was able to upgrade it to 7.0 and the site is working again. I didn’t have to use the backwards capable header.php file.
Thanks for the your help!
