    Hi,

I have just installed the latest version of Enfold on http://www.vackrasmycken.se but I can’t even access the site because of the error you still haven’t fixed.!

What happen with you? I been using Enfold on many sites and never had this problem until recently when I was updating another site. Didn’t get any help when I posted on the forum, eventually found a answer from Yigit to some one else with the same problem and updated the file with his reply.

But obviously you haven’t fixed it ?? Very strange.

    Best regards
    Charlotte

    Hey Charlotte,

Sorry for the problems, could you specify the error you are getting please? Did you try to remove the installation completely and upload it again via FTP? http://kriesi.at/documentation/enfold/updating-your-theme-files/

Also, could you link to the thread where you didn’t get any replies please?

    Best regards,
    Rikard

    Hi Rikard,

I have been putting so much time into this.. :(

I even reinstalled the wordrpress and then I uploaded Enfold and I can’t access the site. I get this error:
Fatal error: Can’t use function return value in write context in /home/d8737/vackrasmycken.se/wp-content/themes/Enfold/header.php on line 6

Here is my thread 2 weeks ago: https://kriesi.at/support/topic/error-when-updating-child-theme/

I don’t dare to update my other websites with the latest Enfold Child theme when you don’t seems to be aware that this is a serious problem and it hasn’t not been solved yet…

    Hi Charlotte,

Sorry for the inconvenience. Issue occurs on PHP versions older than 5.6. It is recommended to use PHP 5.6 or higher (preferably 7.x.). If changing PHP version does not help, Rikard’s suggestion should help. Other than these two possible ones, you should not have any issues updating other website.

In case you run into any issues, please feel free to start a thread with “Urgent” included in thread title and we will try to help as soon as we can.

    Regards,
    Yigit

    Thanks Yigit,

The problem is that I have no idea what PHP version I have on some of my websites where Enfold has been running fine for the last 2 years but now when I try to update I got this error so some kind of information would be good to get for us users that have manage to run Enfold on an older PHP versions.

I will now ask my web host to upgrade the websites to a later PHP version but I just got very frustrated before when suddenly an Enfold upgrade resulted in an error.

    Cheers
    Charlotte

    Hi Charlotte,

We are sorry for the inconvenience, but the most recent WordPress requirements are php7, it has been around since 2015 and many theme and plugin authors are using it in their products.

Please let us know how that worked for you and if you need any more help.

    Best regards,
    Victoria
