Hello Kriesi team,
I hope someone can help me. I was updating to the latest Enfold, and now my site is not working at all.
I was able to export the theme settings, but I was not able to backup the content of the site with FTP.
Stupid, I know. I am new to all this, sorry.I have attached the message I get for the website now.
Many thanks.
March 18, 2018 at 7:55 pm #928773I was able to find the data from my site still intact when I checked phpMyAdmin.
So I was able to export the wp folder containing all the posts & pages. But I still can’t access my wp-admin and my site is down :(
March 19, 2018 at 6:13 pm #929203Hi,
It appears a recent modification to the file public_html/wp-content/themes/enfold/functions.php has caused an issue.
If you manually added any code please access the file via FTP and undo the changes.
If you did not make any changes another possibility could be a plugin conflict. You can try to rename the plugin fold as plugin.old for testing purpose and see if you can get access to the wp-admin.
If the issue still persists please rename the enfold folder to enfold.old and check if you can get into the wp admin area.
If you can access wp-admin after renaming the enfold folder simply delete the “enfold” folder and reupload or reinstall the theme.
Also do not forget to install a child theme to save all your modifications from theme updates :)
Best regards,
VinayMarch 19, 2018 at 8:06 pm #929290Thanks. Renaming the “enfold” to “enfold.old” via the FileManager in my CPanel helped me get back into WP-Admin. Deleting Enfold.

VinayMarch 22, 2018 at 4:45 pm #931435So I’ve reuploaded the latest ENFOLD via FTP.
And now this is what I get on the site:
“Fatal error: Can’t use function return value in write context in /home/*****/public_html/wp-content/themes/enfold/header.php on line 6”What now?
March 22, 2018 at 6:03 pm #931500pls update ?
March 22, 2018 at 6:10 pm #931515Hi!
Sorry for the inconvenience! Issue occurs on servers running PHP versions older than 5.6. You can either upgrade your PHP version to minimum 5.6 and preferably to 7.x or replace /wp-content/themes/enfold/header.php file with this one – https://www.dropbox.com/s/r389b5x4ippscyn/header.php?dl=0 to bring up backwards compatibility with older PHP versions.
Cheers!
