    I’ve encountered a strange issue where all of my posts are nolonger able to be edited or viewed from the WordPress backend. I have updated to all the latest updates of WordPress and Enfold, and was last able to post a blog post last week without issue. However, after updating to 4.2.6, Posts show ‘broken’ elements on the Post page, and the paste url bar is shown at the bottom of the page (examples link in private).

    Note that existing posts are displayed just fine on the front-end of the website. But I can nolonger add a new blog post. Clicking on any of the buttons or tabs on the Post page such as Advanced Layout Builder, Visual or Text (HTML) tabs result in nothing happening. My content is blank.

    Pages and other sections of the WP backend seem to just try to load forever but don’t timeout.
    I’ve tried different browsers, disabling all plugins, purging caches, and nothing helps resolve any of these issues.

    I’ve switched to a different theme and posts DO work with them, so the issue seems to be within Enfold itself. I also tired to revert to an older version of Enfold – 4.2.2 but the same problem persists.
    Can someone offer any assistance please?

    Hey Steve,
    Can you please include a admin login in the private content area so we can take a closer look.

    Best regards,
    Mike

    Hi Mike thanks for replying – I’ve sent the info through private content section.

    Hi,
    I looked at your site and I see that the activate theme is “Be theme” and not Enfold.
    I’m not feeling comfortable switching your theme to test the posts in Enfold, nor do I know if the layout options for the posts in the Be theme would effect how they are shown in Enfold,
    I would like to help get your site back to working with Enfold. If I understand correctly your site was built with Enfold & it was working correctly until you updated to v.4.2.6
    Then at that time you were unable to edit posts that were created with the WordPress default editor?
    Your pages created with Enfold advanced layout builder worked fine?
    Please activate Enfold again and Try disabling your plugins, such as Yoast.

    Best regards,
    Mike

    hi Mike,

    I was testing a post in a different theme to see how it works, but I have now switched back to Enfold. Yes I’ve built this site on Enfold and would love to stay with it as its been fantastic to work with. I just needed to post a new blog post which I can currently only do by switching the theme. And to clarify, I have not made any layout changes with BE, only clicked ‘activate theme’ and added the March 14th post and then clicked ‘Activate’ Enfold to switch back. All settings for Enfold are exactly as how I had it.

    You can now go back and have a look as everything is switched back to Enfold. I’ve disabled all the plugins and there is no change – any content area throughout the site show up as blank, especially posts, and I can’t seem to view or edit anything since that last update this past week. Reverting to an older version didn’t seem to help either so I don’t know what is going on. But, since I am able to edit and add new posts using a different theme, it seem all likely that there is something happening inside the Enfold theme (but I’m no expert!).

    Thanks so much for your time and help-
    Steven

    Hi,
    Thank you for switching back. I tested a few different posts and found that I could view them in the default editor, I also tested making 3 posts with yoast off & on, and all cases I found no issues. I created a post with the developer console open to try to catch any errors and found none.
    I also tested in Chrome & Firefox. Please see screenshot in Private Content area.
    I also gave a quick look at your pages, but saw no issues there. I know you said these worked fine, but I checked anyways.
    Which browser do you use? Can you try using incognito or in-private?

    Best regards,
    Mike

    Thank you for trying Mike. After seeing your screen shot I thought to try a few things to test if its a local issue on my computer or network and here is all I’ve done:
    Disabled all plugins;
    Tried Chrome, Safari and Firefox on Mac;
    Tried Chrome, Safari from a second Mac;
    Tried Chrome from a PC (never logged on to the site before);
    Cleared the caches from all browsers;
    Tried to login with incognito;
    Restarted my computers;
    Turned off my router and cable modem for over 30 mins;

    After all this – NO change – I still can’t edit or view any content areas inside the Enfold pages. I even tried to login with the account I set up for you to try and I only saw the partial html version of a post, but still can not edit it, switch to visual, etc.

    All of my other pages that use the Advanced layout builders are still blank content areas as well.

    This is so strange and at this point I’m at a loss at what is happening as I’ve never encountered this before in any WordPress install. Do you have any other possible suggestions or ideas? In the private area is a link to a screenshot of how I see the same page you sent to me as an example.

    Hi,
    Please try opening your developer tools in Chrome, with the Console open.
    Then click edit on your post item to see if you get any errors.
    Please see screenshots in Private Content area.

    Best regards,
    Mike

    Ok I’ve went to the March 7th post with console and added the screen shots into the Private area (note there are 2 photos because the console errors scrolled down past what I could screen cap with just one photo).

    Thanks for your help.

    Hi,
    What I see from looking at your errors is a err_aborted and “522 Connection timed out” error, and the only reference to 522 is for Cloudflare, see this.
    I didn’t get these errors and I didn’t see that your site was using Cloudflare, but in your screenshot I see you have a tab “cPanel – Cloudflare” Is your site hosted on Cloudflare? I found this info that may help: Fixing Cloudflare Error 522 but if your site is on Cloudflare I think you will need to contact them.

    Best regards,
    Mike

    Thanks Mike, I had disabled, ie turned the plugins and put the service in DEV mode so it would bypass Cloudflare during the testing periods so you might have not noticed it. My site tends to get high traffic so its required to keep my site up and handle it all (as recommended by my ISP). I’ve never had this issue with over the past few years of this site and this Enfold theme – especially when you were able to login and see everything fine, but for some reason I can’t here, on any device as well as other the mystery of why other themes are working ok?

    So I’ll check with my ISP &b Cloudflare to see if they can offer any insigh.

    Thanks for your help,
    Steven

    Hi,
    Please let us know what you find out, one point may be that I’m in the US and getting your site from a different Cloudflare server than you.
    By the way, what webhost are you using & where are you?
    Please respond in the Private Content area.

    Best regards,
    Mike

    Sorry this is a late reply but wanted to note that the solution was to do the following:

    1. clear the Cloudflare cache
    2. remove my site from Cloudflare (through CPanel)
    3. wait a few minutes, then re-enable my site to use Cloudflare (again CPanel)
    4. finally refreshing my site to see everything was back to normal

    The first time I walked through with my host support person who noted there was a corrupted file, but in doing these steps cleared the corruption.

    I should note this has happened a couple times again, and each time following the above steps corrected it, so the issue is directly linked to Cloudflare. Also note that doing a ‘pause’ or setting up page rules within Cloudflare did not help resolve the issues.

    Hope this helps others in similar situation.
    For your notes, I’ve added my webhost and location in the private area – thanks for your help!
    Cheers,
    Steve
