Everytime I update the theme, I run into errors. Is there an underlying reason why the theme update never seems to work right? I always have to revert back to an older theme risking site hacking. Any thoughts?

March 13, 2018 at 10:08 pm #926279Hello. You’re only at more of a security risk IF a vulnerability is found and the theme addresses it. Reverting to a previous version does not mean you are more at risk. That said, I agree the updates have been a mess. I recommend keeping a copy of every Enfold version, that way you can easily roll back.
Also, I recommend always upgrading/downgrading via FTP, rather than using your browser.
In this particular case, if you search the boards, others are running into this issue and you will need to address your PHP version.
March 13, 2018 at 10:11 pm #926284Hi,
Sorry for the inconvenience! Issue occurs on servers running PHP versions older than 5.6. You can either upgrade your PHP version to minimum 5.6 and preferably to 7.x or replace /wp-content/themes/enfold/header.php file with this one – https://www.dropbox.com/s/r389b5x4ippscyn/header.php?dl=0 to bring up backwards compatibility with older PHP versions.
@rlogan2334 Thanks for your help and input :)Regards,

March 13, 2018 at 11:17 pm #926326Does anyone have the theme version 4.2 I can download?
March 13, 2018 at 11:23 pm #926329Hi!
I attached it in private content field.
@alexledesma please go to wp-content/themes/enfold/config-templatebuilder/avia-shortcodes/ folder via FTP and remove events_countdown.php file and that would help.Best regards,
YigitMarch 14, 2018 at 2:09 am #926359I’m so sorry to have to write back here. I just downgraded to 4.2, but now I’m getting these additional errors:

March 14, 2018 at 2:15 am #926360This reply has been marked as private.March 14, 2018 at 2:48 am #926362I think I fixed it. Some error messages came up and I just went and hid the code in the comments related issues. Thanks.
March 14, 2018 at 9:50 am #926503Hi,
Glad that it’s fixed. The error you’re seeing appears when you’re using php version that is less than 5.6.
Best regards,
