    My site salvevitae.com worked before 4.2.4 an gives error 500 on both siteand admin after upgrade.
    No uther upgrades or changes made at the same time.

    I use a child theme for mods.
    FTP access works.

    Which version of php are you running? Can you please check server log for error?
