Most of my menu headings have sub pages -in some cases there is no content in the page whose name carries the heading e.g. on my Publications heading I have sub menus for Journal, Magazine and Books but the Publication heading itself is just a heading with no content. Is there some way of marking this as a dead link so that people can’t click on it, or at least if they do, no page opens. See http://follies.org.uk/wp/index.php/magazine/

    Hey,

Please go to Appearance > Menus and add a new Custom Link with # for URL and add it to your menu and place your submenus below it. That certain menu item with # for URL will not be clickable and it will only display submenu items :)
