I backed up entire WP folder and closed old host. I have WP working on new host but is “blank”. I was not aware of the export/import feature. Am I screwed?
Thx

November 1, 2017 at 10:12 am #871123Hi,
Do you have your database? If so you should be able to restore it at the new host.

RikardNovember 1, 2017 at 6:18 pm #871332I have the entire root WP dir is the db inside that folder?
November 1, 2017 at 6:52 pm #871345Tried getting the import function going to see what would happen. It does appear to see the content but ran into a problem.
“Import WordPress
Before you can upload your import file, you will need to fix the following error:
Unable to create directory wp-content/uploads/2017/11. Is its parent directory writable by the server?
Howdy! Upload your WordPress eXtended RSS (WXR) file and we’ll import the posts, pages, comments, custom fields, categories, and tags into this site.
Choose a WXR (.xml) file to upload, then click Upload file and import.”November 1, 2017 at 7:30 pm #871357November 2, 2017 at 1:34 pm #871648Hi,
Without the database I don’t think you can do much unfortunately. Do you still have access to the old site? If so then try to export all your content and then import it to the new site. Your best option though would be to export the database from phpMyAdmin and import it using the same option.

November 2, 2017 at 8:43 pm #871834So I paid to get the old host turned back on and the SQL DB is there but I see no PHP options.
Also- it seems the WP install on old server was managed by Mojo Marketplace and so far I cannot get the old site login page etc.If all I can get is the full SQL db is there any hope?
Thx

November 3, 2017 at 6:48 am #872003I had help and they discovered the SQL export from orig host had an issue. There was an issue with a line that sets the format- he edited it and was able to import the DB and now the site is migrated and fully functional. So- with only a SQL export and WP folder you can indeed migrate. Lesson learned though re WP import/export.
