Many people are having “Serve scaled images” troubles with gtmetrix/Pagespeed.
After making some research i noticed that this is because you can use same element in different column widths. For example i could have frontpage with gallery inside 1/3 column and gallery -page where gallery is full width.Problem is that enfold uses same image sizes for elements throughout the site. Thumbnails size must then be adjusted according to the biggest images.
My proposed solution is that you could select which wordpress thumbnail size would be used for each (masonry)gallery element. different image sizes could be defined by programming or using “easy image size” plugin and generated with regenerate thumbnails plugin. You already have added handy Screen options -tab which could be logical place for this option.
Then everyone could create needed image sizes, regenerate them and choose close enough size for gallery thumbnails. And Google would be happy => sites would rank well => customer would be happy => we would be happy :)
Thanx for great theme and keep up good work!

(link to site as private content)
First I tested site with image gallery inside right panel i get PageSpeed Score 43%
Secondly I removed image gallery and got 85% as PageSpeed Score.
Third change was to change thumbnail image size to 40×40 and regenerate thumbs. now i get pagespeed of 85%For this preticular site we are able to fix this as it is fixed width by Gallery Preview Image Size.
But when site is fullwidth, image and thumbnail selection should be tied to srcset or mediaquery.

That is actually a nice idea.
Not sure how much work will it require but it is something that we can get to Kriesi.
He will check and based on all your review will see how we can make it work better.Thank you very much

BasilisMarch 30, 2018 at 4:29 pm #935357Yes please fix it, this is a big issue with Enfold. I had to change the masonry size from 705×705 (weird size?) to 327×184 which is the displayed size by the browser of the images we use. Now the load time decreased from 3MB to 1.4MB (still too much) but this should all happen automatically now Google is pushing for mobile first: https://www.techrepublic.com/article/googles-move-to-mobile-first-indexing-means-solid-mobile-development-is-a-necessity/
April 2, 2018 at 1:38 am #935843Hi,
There’s actually nothing to fix. In a masonry element, you can select different number of columns and that particular size will make sure that the images are big enough to cover the item container even when you’re using a single column. If you want to adjust the size of the “masonry” thumbnail, just install the following plugin then go to the Settings > Media panel. Look for the “masonry” thumbnail, adjust the max width and height, update, save then regenerate the thumbnails.

IsmaelApril 2, 2018 at 4:34 pm #936121That’s what I already did and posted my results.
What I’m asking for is to have this built in the theme like for example Thrive Themes has done by offering a performance tab to regenerate thumbnails.
April 3, 2018 at 9:01 am #936377Hi ezfl0w,
Please feel free to request such feature at our feature request system: https://kriesi.at/support/enfold-feature-requests/
This system allows us to keep track of user suggestions and lets you vote on the feature you would like to see the most. I am afraid though there is no guarantee that a feature will get implemented.
If you need further assistance please let us know.

VictoriaApril 3, 2018 at 2:28 pm #936579Thanks, i don’t have time for that but you got my vote and i believe it’s something the team/developers should go after and not the customers. I already gave you the idea.

October 26, 2018 at 6:11 am #1026635Hi,
You can adjust the default thumbnail sizes with the Simple Image Size plugin. I think that’s enough to control the size of the served image for most screen sizes. Unfortunately, we can’t implement the srcset attribute to the masonry element because the featured images are added as background instead of an img element.

IsmaelMarch 16, 2019 at 7:39 pm #1079485Hi @Ismael,
we have installed the plugin: https://wordpress.org/plugins/simple-image-sizes/ ,
but GT does not report change in Serve scaled images: https://gtmetrix.com/reports/cherry-adv.net/ISoMpvMK.
We use W3 Total Cache and our theme version is 4.4.1
Can you help us solve the problem?Regards,
