Hi guys, I’m excited to update! Just curious, is there a general guideline on how old of a version it is safe to update from? We’re currently running version 3.8. Will this be ok to update from directly to the new version? Or should we do a step update first to a version in between? We’re going to try updating more frequently going forward.

    Many thanks,
    Jonathan

    Hey Jonathan,

I would update to the latest version directly, but please perform the update on a staging version of your site first to make sure you are not going to run into any issues on your production site.

    Best regards,
    Rikard

Hi Rikard, thank you for the prompt response! Will do. If updating through the WP dashboard is there a general rule as to how many versions behind it is safe to perform an upgrade from to the current version? Or do you test internally going back many versions to make sure everything updates properly?

    Hi,

There’s no such rule, however different issues arise in different platforms, just to be safe using a staging/development site to do update there first is best so if there are any issues showing after the update has been made you can check it first and fix it before applying to the live site. :)

    Best regards,
    Nikko
