I’m struggling with slow loading. I’ve tested my site http://fridayconferencecenter.com/ with GTMetrix and got a D.

I’ve tried optimizing all images in photoshop, using plugins like wp-smushit and wp-optimizer and I’ve only improved my score from 60% to 61%.
And I’m frustrated. I don’t want to load up on plugins.

    Thanks

I used the WP Rocket plugin and it help my sites a lot. more than doubled the score. I’m now at a B(88%). It is a paid plugin though but only about $40.

The images you will want to fix, but that’s not the bulk of your issue. Regardless, you don’t want to be using WP Smushit, UNLESS it is the premium version that does lossy compression. The FREE version only gets you so far. I recommend you look at https://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-image-compression. Once you install it, you can bulk compress ALL your current images, using lossy compression.

WP-Optimize is great. You want to continue using it, but it won’t help you much with what you’re currently working on.

What you really want to start with though, is installing Autoptimize and start with the default settings. After that, you should see a big change in the “Fully Loaded Time”, which is what you really want to look at with GTMetrix. Let’s see how you are doing after and then we can further tweak.

We can most likely get your site to be at an “A”, across the board. It’s just a matter of how you want (are willing) to get there.

Feel free to reach out to me directly, if you want. I do WordPress optimization for a living and Enfold is my go-to theme.

    Thanks,
    Ryan

    Hi,

Thanks for sharing your tips @SAdesignsUnltd and Ryan. Did you try any of the tips out and did you have any luck with them @amckin?

    Best regards,
    Rikard

    Thank you, all!
I tried autooptimize plugin, and overall my GTMEtrix scores are looking better. But my fully loaded time is still relatively high. Sad face.

Next Steps: Remove any other image optimization plugins you have installed. Install the one I linked to and then compress ALL your images with it. Again, feel free to reach out to me directly, as this is not an Enfold issue.

    Thanks for your help, Ryan!

    Thanks all for your advice.
It seems some of the issues were Enfold-related , but autoptimize plugin helped to optimize css, javascript, etc.
The rest of the issues I will deal with myself. We don’t have funds to hire outside vendors. I wasn’t expecting to be hit up for that. Anyway, I think I’ve got this.

    Thanks.

Nobody has requested to be hired/paid or has “hit you up”. I’m out. Learn to be a little more gracious.

Thanks all for your advice very much. I apologize if I sounded ungrateful for your advice. I meant to say thank you.
