Hello, I am a photographer and about to switch to the Enfold Theme. My present theme is not SEO compatible. All content is outsourced in javascript files, looks great with visual effects but there is no content for robots to be craweled. My SEO prof tells me that I need a complete new theme with much less and properly used javascript. As a photographer I depend more on pictures and visual effects than on text. When using full width sliders or delaminating colum portfolios in the enfold theme can the robot read all the titles, discriptions and alt-text of the pictures? Are the visual effects I can use in the enfold theme SEO friendly or is there just a blank page to robots?

Every image uploaded to WordPress can be read and indexed by any search engine, the only images not indexed are images used as backgrounds. Though if they are uploaded to WordPress they will be indexed anyway, just not on the particular page they are used on. That behaviour is not specific to either WordPress or the theme though, it’s how it works in general on the web.

thank you so much for your reply.
Images can be read by search engines in generally but that does not tell me if the enfold theme is SEO friendly and how javascript is used on its landing page?July 11, 2017 at 12:28 pm #819264Hi Ralph,
I’m not sure what you mean by SEO friendly? My first response would be to answer yes but it’s very broad question your asking. Your second question is also very broad, javascript is used throughout the theme for various functionality. Though very few of them, if any, has anything to do with SEO.

Of course java is used throughout any theme but if java starts right away the landing page and you deactivate java then the landing page is without any content and menu. A good landing page (SEO friendly for higher ranking) should show at least headings, text, menu and some images while java is deactivated. And I think this is the case with the enfold theme.
I just dont what to pick the wrong theme again. A page with a good theme design that nobody finds because it is bad coded in relation to search engines is no penny worth.

There are a lot of SEO plugins out there that can complement any theme, so you can use Enfold, it also has nice masonries and sliders that you as a photographer might enjoy using. All the necessary things are rendered from the server, so Google will have plenty of info to index. Happy exploring!
Best regards,
