AndyMay 17, 2017 at 11:10 am #794778Hello Andy,
i need your help. At the begginnig of my websites creation, i installed the enfold theme without enfold child theme. I almost have finished the websites but now i couldn’t to update that. What can i do now to update the websites, because i have make changes on php code files, css files and javascript files of enfold? I don’t remember which files have been modified.
What can i do now to make update on theme? I try to installed enfold child theme and to move all files from enfold theme to enfold child theme, but i don’t know if it is the best solution.
Thank you very much.
May 17, 2017 at 12:32 pm #794828Hi,
There is no easy way around that unfortunately, you will have to try to figure out what changes you have made and then move them to your child theme. I would recommend that you copy the site to a local or staging site and try it out there.
Best regards,
RikardMay 17, 2017 at 1:25 pm #794868Hello Rikard,
there is another solution? How can find the files which have changed? If i moved all (folders and files) from parent to child theme, that’s work?
Thank you.
May 17, 2017 at 3:08 pm #794909Hi,
No there is no other solution as far as I know, if you find one then please let us know. You can try to move all the files from the parent to the child but that would mean that everything possible to be overridden in the parent would be overridden.

May 18, 2017 at 7:29 am #795282Hi,
Like I wrote to you before, there is no easy way around this. My suggestion to you would be to create a child theme and try to remember what changes you have made to the parent, and then move those changes to the child. That is best way forward for you, please try that. We can’t help you out any more than that unfortunately.
Best regards,

May 25, 2017 at 1:09 am #799282Hi,
because i don’t remember which files have changed, what is the problem to move all the files from parent to child theme?
It defeats the purpose of having a child theme because you will have to update those files every time a new patch is available. You can only override template files and certain theme functions in the child theme folder so copying every files is not going to work. Unfortunately, we can’t help you trace back previous modifications committed in the theme. In the future, please create a change log or a record of the modifications.
