Have you tried increasing the PHP memory and trying again? https://codex.wordpress.org/Editing_wp-config.php#Increasing_memory_allocated_to_PHP

The demo importing, 99% of the times is related to issues of hosting.
Memory Limit, Execution Limit, wp_get() and others functions like that, can create issues.
Can we see your phpinfo(); so we can see how we might be able to help?Best regards,
