John TorvikApril 4, 2017 at 10:20 am #771618Hi John,
There is a plugin or a way to minimize Javascript and CSS? so I can make my site faster.
Thanks again
Regards

Try to use this plugin: https://wordpress.org/plugins/autoptimize/
Hope it helps :)Best regards,
NikkoApril 7, 2017 at 4:25 pm #774061I have the exact same question! I am starting to worry about Enfold because it seems all my Enfold sites run a bit slow. Slow enough that Google’s Page Speed Insights tool ranks them in the red – needs improvement and “should fix!”
The recommendation that Google makes is:
Should Fix:
Eliminate render-blocking JavaScript and CSS in above-the-fold content
Show how to fixThe it is further explained. In this example the details show:
Your page has 1 blocking CSS resources. This causes a delay in rendering your page.
None of the above-the-fold content on your page could be rendered without waiting for the following resources to load. Try to defer or asynchronously load blocking resources, or inline the critical portions of those resources directly in the HTML.
Optimize CSS Delivery of the following:
https://fonts.googleapis.com/css?family=Raleway%7CLato:300,400,700
Hide detailsIs there a setting in Enfold that requests this to move to the footer? If not, can you confirm that using a plugin – such as the one recommended above, or from WPMU etc will not interfere with the site?
With the info above, can you recommend a solution?
April 7, 2017 at 6:20 pm #774116@dandelion222 A fresh installation of WordPress with Enfold is blasting fast. The more plugins you install and the more ‘gimmick’ elements (slider, blincking, fading, poping up stuff) you implement the higher the risk of the site becoming slower.
The Google Page Speed analyzer is not telling the whole truth. The ‘above the fold’ issue will be displayed even if you would have only jquery aktiv in the head of the page. If you like to have modern looking page with some sort of extras (like a slider) you simply can not move all css and jquery to the footer. Therefore Googles warning is misleading.
There are a couple of alternative sources to test you site like https://www.dareboost.com or https://gtmetrix.com/. Use them all and compare the results. You would than have to see whether there are scripts loaded you do not need, e.g. if do not use the layer slider plugin deactivate it.
After analyzing your site and dropping unneeded stuff you can use plugin like https://de.wordpress.org/plugins/wp-speed-of-light/ (free) or https://wp-rocket.me/ (my recommendation and worth every cent) for caching and minifying.
April 7, 2017 at 6:54 pm #774134Thanks for the addition info @memsmaximus! I’ve been wondering how moving things to the footer would effect things. Maybe a css or javascript minify?
I do understand about plugins and I avoid them whenever possible for the reasons you state. The reason I wrote in was in the hopes of finding a solution that would not require another plugin. Enfold is not “blazing fast” to start – but it does indeed slow down with some plugins.
Regardless of what the other testers say, if Google is now factoring page speed into it’s ranking algorithm (especially for mobile) I need to be aware of it’s Page Insights score.
April 8, 2017 at 6:56 am #774308Hi,
About the problem with the site is running slowly, try these tricks:
1. Optimize all images with AI/Photoshop before uploading to server ‘save as web safe’ jpg.
2. Once all images are on the website, optimize with www optimizer plugin twice 1hr 10mins apart.
3. Install wp-smushit run once to remove jpeg extra data then uninstall.
4. Use BWP minify plugin to minify scripts and stylesheets, you can also use W3 Total Cache’s minify settings but we use BWP for Enfold.
5. Install W3 Total Cache or WP-Super cache, select all recommended settings.
6. Logout your website, visit every page at least once to create super cache files.
7. Join Cloudflare setup your website on their CDN, Choose options: Full CDN Optimisation save then activate purge files. Once done log out.
8. Have a cup of coffee.
9. Visit your site after 20 minutes or so.
10. Don’t forget to smile.Best regards,
John TorvikApril 8, 2017 at 4:46 pm #774573Sounds like a good plan John.
I always do 1-3.
Re 4-5: I’ve been using WPMU Hummingbird for their minify. Just started, so we’ll see if I need more.
#6 is a new idea to me, sounds interesting.
Re #7: I need to learn more about Cloudflare before going there.
8-9: No problem! I’ve always got coffee handy and there’s always something to do for 20 mins
10: Good advice. We could insert this before #1 and #5 as well!April 8, 2017 at 5:49 pm #774605 -
