I got a notice from GWT that my site was returning “soft 404 errors” which I had never even heard of. I saw this thread on them: https://kriesi.at/support/topic/gwt-problems-indexing-enfold-soft-404-with-search-activated-s/

This only really addresses search errors for urls ending /?s= I am getting this with any missing url. If you go to any one of my sites using the 4.0.2 version of Enfold, there is no 404 error, its all soft errors. I swear that there used to be a “404 Not Found” response but it seems to be gone.

I have no clue where to start.

Login info is in Private Content.

    Hi!

    Thank you,.
Have you tried the dissalow suggestion that Ismael is doing on that topic, so you can solve the issue?

    Thanks a lot

    Best regards,

Basilis – I have added that to the robots.txt but the more important issue is why is it not returning a 404 error. If you load any random URL you will get an page that reads, “Nothing Found Sorry, the post you are looking for is not available. Maybe you want to perform a search?” but is not returning a Error 404 – Page Not Found code.

That is the part that concerns me. Is the proper code being sent?

I have used some tools to resolve this (I hope). Lets see what Google says in a month r so when i get re-crawled.

    For now, close this ticket.

    Hi,

Glad that you found a workaround. Just point to this thread if you create a new one that is still related to this topic. :)

    Best regards,
    Nikko
