I am working on converting a client’s old html website to WordPress. I installed WordPress in a subfolder using FTP, and it’s all set up with the default 2017 theme. I followed the simple instructions here to install Enfold over ftp http://kriesi.at/documentation/enfold/install-enfold-over-ftp/ but when I either Preview or Activate the theme, I get a white screen of death. I just downloaded the updated theme this morning to try again, same result. This is a brand new install, no plugins other than Akismet which is deactivated. I even deleted the “:Hello Dolly” plugin. I can browse lots of other new free themes to install, and their previews look great. I even installed one.

I don’t even know what to do next. This makes no sense.

    Hey TSGtapirs,

After downloading the the package from themeforest please extract enfold folder and upload it that should work for you. If yous till have any issue please upload the enfold theme to the themes folder and post us your login credentials for wordpress admin and FTP (in the “private data” field), so we can take a look at your backend.

    Login credentials include:

    • The URL to the login screen.
    • A valid username (with full administration capabilities).
    • As well as a password for that username.
    • permission to deactivate plugins if necessary.

    Best regards,
    Vinay

    Hi,

    Thank you for the credentials.

I checked your site (Please see private content to verify site URL) and it appears you have a website that is not a wordpress site so I could not file common wordpress folders like “wp-admin” etc..

You need to first install wordpress in the root directory and then copy the extracted theme files into “wp-content\themes” folder.

Some hosting companies have one click wordpress install feature please check with your hosting company
    http://support.hostgator.com/articles/how-to-install-wordpress-manually

Then it’s really easy to install a wordpress theme
    http://kriesi.at/documentation/enfold/install-enfold-over-ftp/

Strongly suggest to backup the website data first before installing wordpress in the root directory.

    Best regards,
    Vinay
