i have a gallery divided into six groups. originally, i had those six groups further subdivided into subgroups. at some point, something — perhaps an update — eliminated those subgoups. does anyone know if it’s possible to creates such sub-subgroups, and if so, how?

    Hey johnsnyderpottery,

I’m not sure how it’s supposed to work, what do you mean by sub groups?

    Best regards,
    Rikard

Thanks for getting back to me, Rikard, and sorry for the delayed response.

I have the gallery for my work divided into six groups: Mugs and Teabowls, Jars and Vases, etc. For the first year of the site, beginning in early 2-15, I had each of those six major groups divided into 2-4 (unnamed) sub-groups. That allowed me to, for instance, put all mugs of a specific colors into subgroups. Then, suddenly, the sub-groups disappeared. I don’t recall when that occurred – maybe in late 2015 or early 2016. Nor do I recall how the subgoups were represented visually when I clicked on the major group.

I figured the change was the result of a feature update. I tried, briefly, to figure out what had changed with the gallery feature. At the time I was too busy to worry about it too much, or contact you.

Now I have a little more time and I have begun producing more pieces that I’d like to put in subgroups. So, that’s why I’m contacting you now.

Thanks in advance for your help. John

    Hi,

Could you please provide a screenshot of the “subgroups” or how you want the page laid out? This way we can understand it better. The Masonry Gallery doesn’t have that option by default because you can’t apply categories to the gallery items. If you’re using the Masonry element, you can separate posts or portfolio items on different categories.

    Best regards,
    Ismael

    hello ismael,

i’m sorry for the continued confusion on my part, but i now recall that the feature i lost was the ability to use numbered pages to effectively create subgroups under my main six portfolio groups. does this clarify things?

    thanks, john

    Hi!

Could you please provide an example, a site where we can see this feature, or a screenshot? I am not sure if this is a native feature of the theme or even WordPress.

If you’re using the Masonry Gallery element, you can set the “Pagination” settings. This option will separate the items on different pages. However, I’m not sure if this the feature that you’re looking for.

    Regards,
    Ismael

ismael, my apologies. pagination IS the feature i was looking for and i’ve gone in a re-paginated my gallery subgroups.

at some point, an update or something eliminated the pagination i had set up, and either i didn’t see it when i went in to reestablish it, or i was too busy at the time to go in and fix it.

this is all very embarrassing, and i will do my best not to waste your time with frivolous issues in the future.
