    Hi,

    I’ve been reading your solution (by Nick – October 22, 2012 at 6:48 pm) provided on https://kriesi.at/support/topic/how-to-exclude-pagescategoriestags-from-archivesitemap/ and I want to implement it on my site.

    My question is whether it is a correct procedure to copy the parent file template-archives.php and paste it into the child theme folder with the changes.

    Hey Elsa,

    Yes, it’s correct. The way it works is if there’s a child theme it will search first for the template-archives.php of the child theme and use it, if it can’t find it then it will look for it in the parent theme.
