Adsense responsive code issue

Hi

I use adsense responsive code on my website.
It works well, but I have 1 issue.
I work with a left column, and the Adsense code doesn’t recognize that column. It shows the responsive ad over the whole page width.

I fixed it by putting the adsense code in a 1/3 colum. (Adsense thinks the 1/3 column is 1/3 of the whole page )
The visible column is also 1/3 of the page, so the ads show up well.

However, on small screens I get an issue as 1/3 of the screen in mobile layout is not enough space to show up an ad.

Is there a way to let adsense recognize that there is a visible column that is 1/3 of the page, and that it is restricted to the width of that colum ?
