    Hi,
I have been attempting to update to Enfold 3.8 (I also tried an update to 3.7.1 with the same results) and upon updating, the entire site’s display rendering gets all screwed up… pictures are huge, menus lose their formatting, all sorts of ugly display problems.

I have tried the suggestions in ” Having problems after updating to Enfold 3.6? Please read this first!” and “Having problems after updating to WordPress 4.5? Please read this first!” to no avail.

As soon as I roll back the update to a previous version of enfold, the display issues go away immediately. I am updating the theme via FTP.
I am running WP WordPress 4.6.1, with various plugins, all up to date AFAIK.

Please help – I do not want to fall behind in updates but I can’t get the site to render properly on the new versions of the theme.

    Thanks,
    D

    Hey D!

Please try updating the theme via FTP and overwrite all files manually – http://kriesi.at/documentation/enfold/updating-your-theme-files/

I never ‘replace’ my theme folder, I always first rename the old one enfoldOLD (in case something goes wrong) then upload the new one. I’ve successfully updated the theme this way many times. BUT… I had recently changed computers and am running a newer version of filezilla. I decided to re-create the whole situation and re-uploaded the theme folder with the new PC and inspected the uploaded files and it turned out that filezilla had uploaded the files with a different set of permissions on files compared to my old installation of filezilla, so I believe this was the cause. I used the old client to re-upload the new 3.8 enfold folder and everything went file.

Now I need to figure out which setting in filezilla is causing this (any ideas would be appreciated).

Thanks for your help and for a great product!

    D.

    Hi,

Great, glad you found the problem. I’m not sure what could be the issue with FileZilla though.

Please let us know if you should need any further help on the topic.

I found the problem its the W3 total cache plugin when I deactivate it the site works but I am using CDN with this plugin so I really need to use it

    Hi,

Did you try simply clearing the cache from the plugin? I’m not really familiar with that plugin but maybe it helps turning of minification of resources etc?

    Best regards,
    Rikard
