Customize archive widget code for filtring by year and by category

Hi I have the following problem with my project. I want to use the post section to display 2 different main categories of information: news and downloadable documents. I hence created a page “download” where I display only the downloadable documents (which are organized with different subcategories). I added a widget on the right sidebar which gives the possibility of filtering the grid by category name. And then I added the widget “archive” that gives the possibility of filtering the grid by year. However if I filter by year, the system gives me ALL the posts of that year (i.e. either “download” category and “news” category)

I hence need to create a custom widget, based on the enfold archive widget, but that filters according to a certain category only.

Is that possible?
