    Hi,

    This character: Â is appearing in my front page text and in my blog text since I installed wordpress 4.6.

    I’m using theme version 3.7.1 and this is a very recent install of wordpress, the only plugin I have installed is blogger importer which i deactivated.

    by the way, i didn’t even think to check the editor to see if these  characters appear there too, and it seems they do. i won’t delete them now so you have a chance to see them, but perhaps that will be the solution….. its a fresh site so there is not a great deal of content to amend that way

    Hi,

    Thanks for getting back to me!

    In the WordPress file wp-config.php, you may find the line: define(‘DB_CHARSET’, ‘utf8’). It needs to be define(‘DB_CHARSET’, ‘utf8_general_ci’). That may have been what caused the characters to appear in the first place.

    You can still go through and delete the strange characters using the editor.
