Confused about how blog stylings are applied

Hi,

Perhaps somebody can explain the following: when under THEME OPTIONS I leave “And where do you want to display the Blog?” at “Select page”, the Advanced Editor stylings that I have applied to http://www.thatcommsguy.ch/blog are shown.
But, when I under THEME OPTIONS I chose “Blog” under “And where do you want to display the Blog?” my advance page stylings are ignored and a much more simple design is used for the blog index page.

As an additional question, if I do use this more simple design (by selecting Blog under the THEME OPTIONS) is there somewhere that I can edit the layout of this page?
