A taken-over client’s site is running Enfold 2.7 currently (with a Child Theme) and the visual editor on the back end is broken – the spinner spins indefinitely. Errors in the console include:
load-scripts.php:2 Uncaught Error: Syntax error, unrecognized expression: a[rel=] (load-scripts.php)
Uncaught TypeError: Cannot read property ‘hasClass’ of undefined (load-scripts.php)So, I purchased the current version for my client and udpated the theme. The front-end layout became completely broken. Nothing resembled the way it looked before, though the back-end editor did then work. I was forced to revert the database and theme files as it looks to me like the upgrade damages some of the theme config or custom styling??
Please advise.

In order to help you with this issue we’d need more information like a link to the site or screenshots of the issue.

The site is at http://larimerworkforce.org but I’ve had to revert to the old version of the theme and restore a database backup because this is a highly-trafficked public site. The client does not yet have a staging arena in which to test. Are you going to need access to a staging instance of the site for troubleshooting?July 25, 2016 at 11:23 pm #664929Hi,
Yeah having a staging version with the latest version would certainly be helpful.

JosueJuly 27, 2016 at 9:41 pm #665960Josue, Im working on setting up a dev instance of the site so that you can see whats happening when I update Enfold. In the meantime, on latest WP and Enfold 2.7, when editing a page, the visual editor fails to load – the spinner just spins indefinitely. Do you know if there’s a fix for that temporarily until we get everything working on the latest versions?
July 28, 2016 at 8:40 am #666080Hi,
Check if you get any errors in the JavaScript console.
Best regards,
JosueJuly 28, 2016 at 3:18 pm #666274Yes – I get a couple JS errors:
Uncaught Error: Syntax error, unrecognized expression: a[rel=]
load-scripts.php?c=1&load[]=jquery-core,jquery-migrate,jquery-ui-core,jquery-ui-widget,jquery-ui-mo…:2-and-
Uncaught TypeError: Cannot read property ‘hasClass’ of undefined
load-scripts.php?c=1&load[]=jquery-ui-droppable,jquery-ui-slider,jquery-touch-punch,iris,wp-color-p…:692I made a quick video showing what I experience: http://screencast.com/t/guQnIfreeDix
Is there a code modification I can make to get this working temporarily while I’m getting the staging site running or can you tell me what the newest version of WP is that I can run with Enfold 2.7?
Thanks!
July 30, 2016 at 5:16 pm #666835Hi,
That error is expected when using a newer version of WP with an older version of Enfold, one thing you can do is replace the whole
framework
folder (from a copy of the latest Enfold).Best regards,
JosueAugust 10, 2016 at 9:20 pm #671071Thanks Josue. Im going to try to get everything up to date here, but need an old copy of the Enfold v2.7 to do a diff on to determine the changes the past developer made. Where could I download a pristine copy of v2.7?
