Hi guys,
First of all, thanks for the great theme. It just keeps getting better. Keep up the good work.
Secondly, I know you guys don’t give support for 3rd party plugins, so if you can’t help just say so and I’ll understand. But I’ve been having problems with the social share section interfering with a footnotes plugin (called “footnotes”). Whenever there’s a social share section anywhere on the page the list of references that automatically gets generated on the bottom of the page doesn’t show up. I’ve tried throwing the shortcode of a social share section inside of a code block, which allows the references list to show up, but it doesn’t render properly and the social share section merges with the reference list.
Any help you can offer would be appreciated.
Thanks!
BrockJuly 10, 2016 at 6:01 am #658892Here’s a link to a page that has the footnotes: http://www.understandchristianity.com/bible/joshua/ . I have deleted the social share section from that page. If you want me to try to put it back in, let me know.
Thanks!

1. Yes, third party plugins are out of our support scope.
2. Without seeing the conflict it’s not possible to suggest you anything.
Please add the social share so we can see what is happening and try to do our best for you :)
Best regards,
VinayJuly 11, 2016 at 3:56 am #659057Ok, here you go:
Here’s an example of a page with a social share section without any attempted footnotes: http://www.understandchristianity.com/bible/deuteronomy/ .
Here’s an example of the issue I’m having: http://www.understandchristianity.com/bible/joshua/ . Notice the “[note]” shortcode shows up when there should be a footnote generated by the plugin. Also notice that no reference section displays at the bottom.
And here’s an example where it’s actually working for some reason (I don’t know why): http://www.understandchristianity.com/bible-notes/genesis/genesis-2/ . The social share section and the footnotes plugin are working seamlessly. One thing that’s different from the others for this page is that this page is generated by a wiki plugin that I’m pretty sure uses a blog page template instead of a page template, so the social share section is auto-generated and not part of the advanced layout section that I created.
Let me know if you need anything else. Thanks!
July 11, 2016 at 2:31 pm #659289Hi,
I have not used footnotes but I cannot see any difference in the one with the issue http://www.understandchristianity.com/bible/joshua/ and the one which works correctly http://www.understandchristianity.com/bible-notes/genesis/genesis-2/ .
Best regards,
VinayJuly 11, 2016 at 3:31 pm #659337Here are some screenshots showing the issue:
This one (from http://www.understandchristianity.com/bible-notes/genesis/genesis-2/) shows where it is working. Notice the superscript “2” showing up and the plugin-auto-generated “References” section: http://imgur.com/UeEQRJc . The social share section on this page was enfold-auto-generated via the blog post template.
This one (from http://www.understandchristianity.com/bible/joshua/) shows the plugin shortcode “[note]……[/note]” where the plugin-generated superscript number and hover-over reference should be: http://imgur.com/p4QxvzF . This only happens on pages that include a social share section that I have added via the Advanced Layout Editor.
This (also from http://www.understandchristianity.com/bible/joshua/) shows that there is no “References” section: http://imgur.com/PvNZVa5 . It should be auto-generated by the plugin at the bottom of the content, but something with the social share section is interfering. When I remove the social share buttons in the Advanced Layout Editor, the footnotes work perfectly.
The issue is with the social share buttons element. When it is generated via the blog post template php file, everything with the footnotes is OK. When the social share buttons element is added via an Advanced Layout Editor element, it interferes with the plugin.
Let me know if you need anything else. Thanks!
July 12, 2016 at 9:19 pm #660090Hi,
Try removing most of the social services in Theme Options – http://screencast.com/t/fZEjx8SO
Best regards,
JosueJuly 13, 2016 at 2:53 am #660175I removed each one individually and tested it….and the problem was still there. I removed all but three of them and tested it….and the problem was there. I also removed all of them at once and tested it…..and the problem was still there.
Any other thoughts?
July 13, 2016 at 10:18 pm #660588Hm, would probably be better to use a third-party option at this point:
