Hi Guys!
When I save an element as a template, then use it on a new page, does the one on the new page then become a new, stand-alone instance of that element, or is the one placed on the new page an instance of the original that reflects changes made to the original?
EXAMPLE 1: In MS Word you can create a new letter based on a template. You get all your sections laid out and formatted and can then make whatever changes you want, add your content, and save your letter. Any changes made to the original template file have no effect on anything in the letter you just saved.
EXAMPLE 2: In MS FrontPage and Dreamweaver you can create a new “child” html file based on a dynamic web template (.DWT) file. In the DWT, certain sections are designated as editable from within the “child”, but the rest are “off limits” to keep child pages looking consistent. Any changes made to the parent DWT outside the designated editable areas are reflected in the child. This allows for one, central place to make changes to things like menus, logos, copyrights, etc.
I’d imagine that ALB elements saved as templates fall into one of the two scenarios described above, and I need to know for sure which it is. The most useful (for me anyway) would be to have them fall into the second, so I could almost create a “theme-within-a-theme”. Either way, I just need to know which so I can use them most effectively.
Perhaps in future releases of Enfold you could have both. One could be a “Stand Alone Template”, the other could be a “Parent Template”.
Thank you!
Scott

When you save a template and load it on a new page and make changes on it, you only make changes on the new page and template stays as is.
I am not sure how easily that would be possible to change all by editing one template but you can request it here – https://kriesi.at/support/enfold-feature-requests/Best regards,
