HI there,
I just updated the enfold theme on http://www.mybiz-canterbury.co.uk and it’s caused this fatal error:
Fatal error: Call to undefined function avia_header_class() in /var/sites/m/mybiz-canterbury.co.uk/public_html/wp-content/themes/enfold-child/header.php on line 12
Please can you look into it for me urgently? The site is down and I need it up asap! I’ve contacted my host to roll the website back but I’ll be afraid to update the website if it’s not worked out why this has happened.
Many thanks,
Krissie
June 7, 2016 at 3:25 pm #644135Hi Krissie!
Can you please reupdate the theme via FTP and overwrite all files – http://kriesi.at/documentation/enfold/updating-your-theme-files/?
Regards,
YigitJune 7, 2016 at 3:34 pm #644144I’m scared to. I’ve had to roll back the website. Why would have this happened? My updates on other websites are fine. Is it because I’ve used a child theme?
June 7, 2016 at 3:35 pm #644145Also, there was some bespoke code added by a developer, so that the header logo will change with specific pages. Could this code have caused the error?
Thanks
June 7, 2016 at 4:03 pm #644162Hi Yigit.
Please help, I’m getting serious errors. The update has really buggered up the website!
What should I do if the roll back doesn’t work? Thanks,
June 7, 2016 at 5:49 pm #644229Hi Yigit,
Okay, the site has been rolled back and is working as normal now.
There was some bespoke coding amends to some of the code so the logos change with the pages (see: http://www.mybiz-canterbury.co.uk/growmybiz and http://www.mybiz-canterbury.co.uk/startmybiz) but I need to find out from the guy that did it, where he made the changes. Can I then ask you to have a look and see if this affected the update?
I’m scared to do an update on the site now, but am doing a full back-up in case the update fails again. Is 3.6 essential for security or is it just functionality? I can’t do an update until I know what caused the malfunction, any advice would be greatly welcome.I’ll be in touch,
Krissie
June 7, 2016 at 6:31 pm #644268Hi there,
The code that was added has been added to the Child theme. The file lives in the folders on the ftp as below in the private area.
Can you confirm if this may have caused problems with the update?
If not, then please can you update the site for me as I’m scared the website will fail again if I do it.The site is currently running fine again and is running on the latest wordpress but with your 3.5.4 Enfold version.
Please let me know what I should do next to avoid this happening again. My clients won’t be too pleased if I keep having downtime on their site when I do updates.
I’m about to purchase Enfold twice again for two more clients, so your help would be greatly appreciated on this matter.
Thanks,
Krissie
June 8, 2016 at 10:55 am #644683Hi,
If you are updating to version 3.6 and face any issue please access the themes folder via FTP and remove enfold folder and upload a fresh copy of the enfold themes folder downloaded from themeforest this should work without any errors. Please check this link http://kriesi.at/documentation/enfold/updating-your-theme-files/
Best regards,
VinayJune 8, 2016 at 12:32 pm #644769Hi Vinay,
Thing is I’m scared to update the theme as it caused an error yesterday. Please can you look at my previous posts and help me work out why the update would have caused such a failure. It caused the whole site to fail.
Thanks,
Krissie
June 8, 2016 at 8:08 pm #645032Hi!
I assure you there will not be any issue please go ahead and update the theme manually.
1. Download a fresh copy of theme from themeforest and rename the enfold theme folder from ” enfold ” to something like ” enfold-latest ” and upload it to the themes folder.
At this stage you should have 2 enfold theme folders with names ” enfold ” and ” enfold-latest ”
2. Rename the current ” enfold ” folder to ” enfold-old ” and ” enfold-latest ” to ” enfold ”
You are all set :)
If you still have any issues please upload the latest copy of enfold in themes folder with name ” enfold-latest” and provide us a working FTP so we can take a closer look at this issue.
Cheers!
VinayJune 14, 2016 at 12:25 pm #647926HI Vinlay,
Thanks for getting back to me. Thing is, why do I need to do it manually? Why won’t it work within the update area of wordpress? I don’t want to have to do manual updates for ever more.
Please can you look into this for me as I’m very concerned, I don’t want the website to have to be rolled back again if the update goes wrong. I’ve just purchased another Enfold theme so I would appreciate your support on this.
Thanks,
Krissie
June 14, 2016 at 1:12 pm #647952Hi,
Some files are in conflict hence the auto update is not working once you replace the files manually everything will work correctly and your theme will be able to receive auto updates from themeforest once the API key is added in theme options and also it depends on the Server environment should be able to make use of the auto update feature provided by ThemeForest.
Best regards,
VinayJune 14, 2016 at 1:16 pm #647955The API is added in the theme options already and has been for a while. The other websites I have using Enfold didn’t have issues with the update, so there must be something to do with the child theme?
June 14, 2016 at 4:52 pm #648125Hi,
Please try this plugin to clear WordPress transients if you do not receive auto updates and make sure your API key is correct: https://wordpress.org/plugins/artiss-transient-cleaner/.
If it does not help, I am afraid you might need to update the theme manually – http://kriesi.at/documentation/enfold/updating-your-theme-files/
Unfortunately not all Server environments are able to make use of the auto update feature provided by ThemeForest :/
Best regards,
YigitJune 14, 2016 at 5:13 pm #648149Hi guys,
It has updated with no problems until now, using the auto update.
That’s why I’d like assistance in updating the theme please. If it was my own site, then no problem, but it isn’t.
It’s the first time I’ve had an issue with enfold on updates.
June 17, 2016 at 12:08 pm #649740Hi,
Sure, please download a fresh copy of Enfold theme from themeforest and find the main theme folder ‘enfold’ inside the downloaded package and rename the ‘enfold’ theme folder to ‘enfold v3.6’ and upload it to wp-content/themes and post your ftp details in private content so we can take it from there and help you update the theme manually.
Best regards,
VinayJune 22, 2016 at 7:24 pm #652346HI Vinay, I only just saw this post.
I’m uploading the latest version now but I did as your video tutorial suggests, which is copy over direct. I think you need to update the video as the theme is huge now and takes ages to upload! Now my website is down and it looks bad for my client.
I’ll let you know if I still have problems.
Cheers,
Krissie
June 22, 2016 at 7:45 pm #652350HI Vinay,
I have updated the theme as you guys said, but this error has happened:
Fatal error: Call to undefined function avia_header_class() in /var/sites/m/mybiz-canterbury.co.uk/public_html/wp-content/themes/enfold-child/header.php on line 12
Please can you help? I’ll have to roll back the theme again so that the website works for now.
This isn’t good. Your help would be greatly appreciated to solve this issue.
Cheers,
Krissie
June 22, 2016 at 7:48 pm #652351I think there is something going on with the child theme that’s causing a conflict. Would you mind looking into this for me?
June 22, 2016 at 7:53 pm #652352It is definitely to do with the child theme. The theme has updated but the child theme is conflicting with it. I need to use the child theme as the styles are all set within it and there has been some code added to it. If you could check this for me I would be very grateful?
I need to be able to update the theme of course and this isn’t convenient at all.
Let me know what you need access to so you can see what’s going on.
Thanks,
June 22, 2016 at 8:06 pm #652357Here is the login details to the wordpress backend if you need to have a look
June 25, 2016 at 6:49 am #653251Hi,
What are the modifications that you added in the header.php file? We made a few changes to that file. Please get a copy the header.php file from the parent theme then replace the one in the child theme.
Best regards,
IsmaelJune 26, 2016 at 8:36 pm #653613Same problem here i dont know how to use the ftp loader can someone help?

June 29, 2016 at 9:53 am #654684Hi Ismael,
You make it sound so easy. Please can you look into this for me as I don’t know what I’m doing and it’s a clients website.
I can provide the ftp login?
Thanks,
Krissie

June 29, 2016 at 2:18 pm #654836Hi,
seems you have messed up with the files and in this case there might be some corrupted files, so please delete all theme files completely via FTP, before installing a fresh copy from your themeforest account. Here is a short tutorial on how to install the theme via FTP, in case you are not sure how that works:
Best regards,
AndyJune 29, 2016 at 3:26 pm #654884Hi Andy,
I did that already and I had issues still. It’s something to do with the child theme. I copied over the updated Enfold folder on FTP and the theme was fine, it’s the child theme that is causing issues and that’s what I need to use as it’s set up with all the formatting and there are bespoke files.
I need your help as my host helped me install the theme and there were still issues. If you could check out the child theme as see why there is this error that would be great:
Fatal error: Call to undefined function avia_header_class() in /var/sites/m/mybiz-canterbury.co.uk/public_html/wp-content/themes/enfold-child/header.php on line 12
Thanks,
July 1, 2016 at 11:22 am #655657Hi,
Please update the theme to the latest version.
Replace this:
$filterable_classes = avia_header_class( avia_header_class_string() );
with this:
$filterable_classes = avia_header_class_filter( avia_header_class_string() );
inside your Header.php.
Best regards,
AndyJuly 1, 2016 at 12:17 pm #655704Should i replace it in the child theme header then update the theme?
Please clarify as I tried updating the theme via ftp and the error occured and took the site down. Thanks
July 1, 2016 at 1:52 pm #655762Hi,
inside your child theme.
Best regards,
