    HELP!!!!!!!!!! SITE BROKEN

Re-installing an older version does nothing!!!

    #643546

Same here, uploaded old functions.php file, and the config.php file nothing…Dead as a door nail.

    #643547

Yes, I did everything like you did and not working. I contacted my hosting company, they will charge me $150 to restore the site. I am so angry with Kriesi, I tried to contact them on Tweeter, but no response.

I ran into the same issue. I downloaded the theme directly from Theme Forest. Renamed the original enfold.disabled and loaded the administration page of wordpress once it was disabled wordpress falls back to a default theme. Once back into wordpress reupload the theme you downloaded directly and go to appearances and reactivate the theme. Most settings should remain but a few get lost like any custom colors for menus.

    Good luck!

Same issue here. HTTP ERROR 500

    #643556

    Hi,

If you are all receiving the same error then your FTP update was not done properly I am afraid. The best way to fix this is to delete the entire enfold folder and upload the new version. The error indicates that a file that previously was named helper-mailchimp.php and now is named av-helper-mailchimp.php was not removed properly by your FTP tool when updating the folders.

    Best regards,
    Kriesi

    MY SITE IS ALIVE AGAIN!!
I made a “fresh” new installation.
I meen: By FTP, I delete my folder themes/enfold
And upload my OLD version 3.5.4
And now I can access to my frontend and backend.
I hope this works for you!
    Good luck.

    #643559

    Glad it worked ;)

    #643561

Yes, it work for me, but I haven’t got Mailchimp installed in my website.

    #643562

@allinremoval, thank you for the information. I would like to try your way to restore my site but I can’t login to WordPress admin either. I have two questions, 1, Where can I find the administration page of wordpress? 2, Where can I upload that page once I have downloaded?
    Thanks for your help!

    #643563

@Kriesi, can you please give me a step-by-step instruction? Our site hosting on Godaddy and I not good at the web hosting staffs, just worried to make my site worse if I don’t do it right.

    #643566

So what happens to 3.6 then? Do we install again as fresh?
I have rolled back to 3.5.4.
Anyone tried 3.6 as a fresh install?

    #643570

My site broke after install and was stuck in maintenance mode, went in with FTP and did fresh install of theme and it works fine.

    #643576

    As per Kriesi…
Via FTP delete the entire Enfold folder. Upload the new v3.6 folder and ALL IS WELL.
    Thanks

    #643591

Thanks for the advice above. I deleted Enfold folder, the site back to default theme and I am able to login to WordPress dashboard now, and trying to upload the theme from Appearance – Themes – Upload theme, it has been uploading for more than 20 minutes and hasn’t been finished yet. Could anybody give me some idea how can I upload via FTP? I am new in this area and do have a hard time to recover my site.

    Thanks for the help!

    #643604

it does not work with the child theme. I have replace the brand new enfold 3.6 from FTP but the theme child them I have been using is still causing the HTTP errors

    #643606

I had an older custom header.php in my child theme that was call the old file. Thanks.

    #643609

I have to say this update is a disaster!

    #643620

As a client I understand, that we clients wants all working smoothly. This theme is complex and powerful. We should be sometime more patient ;) Kriesi and his team are working as best as they can and providing great support.

    Best wishes to everybody.

I agree with @lipowski You should never be installing new versions into a live production environment anyway. Create a test directory, clone the site, apply the update. If the update tests successfully then clone it to the live site.

    #643663

What was strange was I updated my theme in my test environment and it worked fine… then when I copied it to the production environment it crashed the site. I think this is because one of the old files was causing the conflict and was not deleted when the staging site was migrated to production. Deleting the Enfold theme folder via FTP and uploading it fresh fixed it.

    #643669

I know I shouldn’t say something mean before. But was so anxious for the broken site, and I am still trying to figure out how to fix it. As I never used the FTP before, I have to learn how to use this tool from the beginning….

    #643676

Is there anyone here who understands how to use FTP willing to help me? I delete the old Enfold, and uploaded a file via FTP, then go back to my File Manager on my hosting account, the file is there, but the site still not working right. Please email me at (Email address hidden if logged out) if you would like to help me fix this issue. Thanks!

    #643677

The best backup for me is cloning plugin. If something will go wrong, everything will be rocovered in few minutes.

    It is this one: https://wordpress.org/plugins/all-in-one-wp-migration/

They should update screenshots, they are quite old. But plugin is updated.

    #643682

Actually in this case a plugin will not help because you can’t access the backend of the site when it crashes… no access to plugins or admin screen. :(

Linortek, try renaming the folder “Enfold” to “Enfold Old” and then upload Enfold to your directory.

    #643690

    @Linortek try Cyberduck
I was using Filezilla for FTP but the application was horrible for me. And it installed Malware onto my browser! Got to love open source!
Cyberduck has decent UI and I have no issues logging into the backend of my site. You will need your hosting provider to give you the login credentials.
