Deleting the header menu and the decreasing the space around main content area

I like to decrease the space between the easy slider and the content area.
And also I need to delete the header menu and the gap between header and main content area.
I add the below code to quick css to remove the header menu but there had been a gap where menu exists.
.main_menu { display: none; }
