Hello!
Since upgrading to WP 4.5.1 I’m observing some odd behavior with the layout editor.
In one Page, the content wouldn’t display at all when being edited – the circular loading animation just plays. I eventually put this page into Trash and created a new version of it. What can you recommend in cases like this where the layout editor won’t come up? I even tried restoring from an earlier version of the page and the editor still wouldn’t come up.
In the second instance, noted today, I have a Post where one Text element on that post comes up with the ‘Error Fetching Content’ message. If I place a new text element within the 1/1 column and copy the text into it the same thing happens. However, if I create a new text box and place it somewhere else on the page, I can edit it once content is saved. Now this is the weird part…. if I move this newly created text box with the same text into the same vicinity as the text box that I cannot edit, then I can’t edit this new text box… its the weirdest thing.
What would you recommend and/or what can I send you to help pinpoint the problem(s)?
Thank you!
Jim Geiger

JordanMay 10, 2016 at 6:52 pm #630185Hello Jordan,
To replicate the problem, try to edit the Text Box that begins with ‘Be our special guests..’ When I try to edit it I receive an error message. Other Text Boxes on this page work as expected. If I Duplicate the Text Box that has the problem, the duplicate also generates an error message if I try to edit it.
If I place a new Text Box below that Text Box and enter some text, it works. I can save and re-edit the new text box.
BUT – If I copy the text from the Text Box that’s causing the problem into the new Text Box, and Save it, I cannot re-edit it.
I CAN create a new Text Box, and re-type the text into the new box and save it – and then edit it again.
See below for credentials:
May 10, 2016 at 7:46 pm #630204I’m having the same problem. Certain text seems to give error. I copied the ‘bad’ text into a new text-box. (See link page down below). Now the new text box gives the error. Before pasting the text into WP, I formatted the text to ‘plain text’ with TextEdit.
May 10, 2016 at 7:50 pm #630205Hello Spitsdesign – yes we both tried the same solution. Have you also had an entire page that becomes uneditable (the loading animation comes up but nothing after that)?
May 10, 2016 at 7:57 pm #630211Hey Jim,
Everything works fine. Except this one page, with this one textbox gives error when clicking the textbox.May 12, 2016 at 8:31 am #631198Hi,
I’m not sure why it triggers an error. Is this happening on a different page? Please try recreate the content on a new page. Where did you get the text? Is this from a text editor?
Best regards,
IsmaelMay 12, 2016 at 9:08 am #631222I copied the text (from TextEdit) to a new page. Problem stays: error when I try to edit the textbox.
TextEdit is a simple text editor on Mac. First I converted the text to ‘plain’ text, to remove all styles. Then I copy-pasted the text into the site, on a new page.
The problem only exists with this specific text (see link private content).
Please help me out. Thank youMay 13, 2016 at 8:59 am #631922Hi!
We are really not sure what’s causing the issue because there’s nothing in the text, at least nothing that we noticed, that could cause the issue. Since it is still working in the frontend, would you be OK about editing the text block once and leave it as it is? Edit it on a temporary post or page, add it in a text block then leave it. Will that work for now?

IsmaelMay 13, 2016 at 9:09 am #631928Hey Ismael,
This will do for now. I have another editor problem with another site. See private content. Title in content-section isn’t displaying correctly. Am I doing something wrong?May 15, 2016 at 7:33 am #632456Hi,
I’m not sure exactly what you mean is wrong with the title, too much space between it and the menu maybe?
Regards,
RikardMay 15, 2016 at 5:35 pm #632535The title looks bad on this page -> it’s a title in section. It should look as titles on all other pages.
May 17, 2016 at 4:45 am #633444Hi,
I’m sorry but I still can’t see what you mean by that, could you post a screenshot of the issue please? I compared the page you linked with the page TARIEVEN and I could not see any differences between the two titles.
Thanks,
RikardMay 17, 2016 at 8:33 am #633547Hey Rikard,
I fixed it myself.
