Please let me know if i do these updates my website won’t be broken and go missing

In other is it safe to do these updates and not lose anything?

    #613951

    Hey!

Yes, Enfold 3.5.2 fixes the issues occured by WordPress 4.5 update. If you would like to be on the safe side, you can wait a little longer so we can test more and make sure that it would not break anything.

You can also create a testing environment – http://kriesi.at/documentation/enfold/move-from-a-local-installation-to-a-live-server/ and update the theme there and check if it breaks anything – http://kriesi.at/documentation/enfold/updating-your-theme-files/. Make sure to flush browser cache after updating the theme

    Cheers!

    Hey!

You can login on ThemeForest with the account you purchased Enfold and go to Downloads section to download the latest version and then update the theme via FTP – http://kriesi.at/documentation/enfold/updating-your-theme-files/

    Cheers!

Hi Yigit, I tried to update Enfold, now I get a message that WordPress update failed… and.. my Enfold theme disappeared!!
I have a screenshot of such if you wish.

    #614073

    Hi!

Can you please try updating the theme via FTP manually? You can find instruction video in the link i posted above

    Regards,
    Yigit

    #614100

    Thank you, I will try.

    #614102

Sorry, already did that in the first place, but I got no message for an Enfold update. Therefore I tried to do it the other way unfortunately. What to do know??

    #614239

Just FYI the update to 4.5 took down my godaddy managed wordpress sites but update to 3.5.2 fixed. Was able to update enold via theme update feature in dashboard.

    #614250

Thanks, but my Enfold is deleted in my dashboard menu. (?) When I go to display themes’s it says Enfold stylesheet missing. False.

I’m admin of other websites, but I did dare not update those because of above mentioned problems. However, these websites should be working and are loading terribly and mostly not at all, making adjustments on pages is not possible either. I really don’t know what to do. Do not want to rebuild sites.

Usually I wait with updating untill more secure. However, my website was not loadable all day yesterday so I imagined (after contacting webhosting) it must be either WordPress or Enfold or as it seems now a combination of both.

First updated WP, then missing out on text and images in Enfold.
Second updated Enfold… then the whole theme is removed from my dashboard.

    Help is absolutely required @Kriesi

    Hey!

    @wera1967
Please refer to this thread and re-install Enfold via FTP – http://kriesi.at/documentation/enfold/portfolio-item/install-enfold-theme-with-ftp/
If you would like us to install the theme for you, please start a new thread and attach WordPress admin logins and FTP logins. If you post them here, it would be visible to creator of this thread as well.

    Cheers!

Thnks Yigit. for offering re-install, but I have other sites to update as well, so I need to know how to, in case of future problems.
One more question, should I only re-install the Enfold update or do I need the original package and then update?

    Hi!

Yes you can go ahead and re-install wordpress from dashboard > update > re-install wordpress and update the theme later.

You may already know this the theme can be updated from Enfold > Theme Updates

Another way to do it is via FTP please check this link kriesi.at/documentation/enfold/install-enfold-over-ftp/

Please feel free to let us know if you have more questions.

    Best regards,
    Vinay

Thnks Vinnie for quick reply. WordPress install worked this time. Enfold completely dissappeared from dasboard. So I should install Enfold through FTP. Is the update the complete version? Will my site be restored? I’m using Enfold Startup Business theme.

And for my other websites. First update Enfold and then update WordPress??

    Hi!

Let us work one site at a time to avoid confusion.

In the site you just re-install wordpress go to Appearance > Themes > Activate Enfold or child theme if you are using one.

We would like to take a closer look at it please create a new ticket and provide us a temporary user with ‘administrator’ role and share in private content (Create a new ticket as it can be seen by person who started this thread) with permission to deactivate all plugins and add custom code if necessary to help you resolve this issue.

    Cheers!
    Vinay

    #614634

Ok Vinnie I will do that. How do I create a temporary user administrator role?

    #614740

No reply on my last question? Request for assistance.

    #614744

    Still problems with versione 3.5.2…

    #614782

    Hey!

    @wera1967
please go to Users > Add New and create a new user with administrator role. You can use (Email address hidden if logged out) as email but please post login credentials here so any available moderator can look into it.

    @dmiklus
Can you please post the link to your website?

    Cheers!

Thnks @yigit. I have bigger problems know. Can’t even get into dashboard anymore, blanc page. Called host provider (Strato).
They said I should contact WP because they had a Hack yesterday or so, and it could be a security problem. (??).
    Anyway, I can’t make a temporary admin now… don’t know what to do anymore…

    #614946

    Hey!

Please ask the hosting guys to restore your site to the most recent version which was working correctly. Once your site is up we can take it from there and help you with this issue.

You should create a new ticket while sharing private content as it can be seen by the person who creates the ticket and the mods.

    Best regards,
    Vinay

    #614954

@vinay… That’s the problem @Strato doesn’t feel responsible! They won’t help me any further…. 3 websites down… maybe WordPress can help me otherwise I don’t know what to do. Finding a new provider that’s for sure!

Thanks so much for the feedback and information, decided NOT to update my Enfold website and WP 4.5 . Is it really necessary? Hate all these updates all the time. It just breaks your website and then I have to redo everything.

    #616532

    Hi!

It is always better to keep WordPress, theme and plugins up-to-date.
You can create a testing environment – http://kriesi.at/documentation/enfold/move-from-a-local-installation-to-a-live-server/ and update the theme and WordPress there firstly and check if it breaks anything

    Cheers!
    Yigit

    #616563

Thanks, will you be able to test and update the theme and WordPress? Don’t know if this is included in the support? All my plugins are up to date. Just need to update theme and WordPress.

    #617488

    Hey!

Sure, we can update both for you.
We would need you to post FTP logins and WordPress admin logins here privately.
Have you made any changes on theme files?
Also, please have a backup of your files

    Best regards,
    Yigit
